Job Description
Falmouth Taylor Rental is seeking a seasoned hands on mechanic that has the ability to lead the maintenance of a fleet of rental equipment. The position would require someone who has the ability to manage up to two other mechanics. It is critical that the applicant is a self starter and has the ability to ensure that periodic maintenance and repairs are completed with limited supervision so that equipment is ready to rent and is being maintained for the long-term as efficiently as possible. This position requires strong leadership skills and is not appropriate for someone that needs supervision. The Lead Mechanic/Equipment Manager will be measured by both their performance and the performance of those working under them and will have significant control of the operation of the department and personnel decisions.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Manage and perform the repair and maintenance of company owned and customer equipment in a timely manner to ensure maximum uptime.
- Set work schedule for staff to ensure ability to properly serve customers.
- Ensure that parts are ordered to maintain adequate supplies and ensure need parts for repairs are received in a timely and cost effective manner to maintain maximum rental fleet availability.
- Provides training and assistance to mechanics.
- Ensure that maintenance requirements of equipment is properly entered into software and maintenance schedule is performed and logged into the system.
- Ensure that capabilities of new and existing equipment added to inventory and front desk staff is knowledgeable so that they can market the equipment effectively.
- Evaluates all equipment after repairs, maintenance or safety checks.
- Documents equipment status before and after rental.
- Help to handle customer complaints regarding equipment condition or operation.
- Promote safety awareness
- Perform quality control checks
- Create, update, close and bill work orders
- File warranty claims in a timely fashion
- Order parts, return parts, and perform parts inventory.
- Recruit and interview mechanics and other members of the staff.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Valid driver’s license
- Extensive experience in small engine equipment, including small engine lawn and garden equipment, skid steers and excavators, self-propelled and towable lifts, pumps and more.
- Knowledge of work planning and scheduling and other supervisory activities
- Strong understanding of equipment capabilities and safety requirements.
- Clear perspective of maintenance and repair issues in the industry
- Ability to motivate and manage staff in order to ensure efficient and productive store operation.
- Computer literacy
- MA Hoisting License within 4 months of start date.
