The Refrigeration Mechanic positions includes working as a team to operate an ammonia refrigeration system throughout a production facility. The Mechanic position involves maintaining, troubleshooting and preventing mechanical, electrical and refrigeration problems. This includes making repairs and alterations to the refrigeration systems as needed during the week and weekends. Weekend work and excellent attendance is required. Also includes assisting the assembly and dismantling refrigeration equipment including chillers, freezers, hot/cold water systems, air compressors and more. Strong mechanical and electrical skills needed and experience with automated computer equipment is preferred. Must be able to use a variety of hand and power tools as well as material handling equipment. This position requires the ability to work as a team with a high energy level while also being able to work independently. Must be able to maintain a clean and orderly work area. This includes working in the constantly-changing work environment involving processing chickens that can be both cold/hot and moist/damp/dusty. The Refrigeration Maintenance Mechanic must be physically capable of moving through all areas of the plant and lift/carry up to 75 pounds. Safety rules and procedures must be followed at all times.
Requirements:
- Prior industrial ammonia refrigeration experience is preferred but not required.
- Excellent verbal communication skills required.
- Excellent written skills also required to be able to maintain accurate records.
- Speed and accuracy required with good hand/eye coordination.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment for extended periods of time.
- Must be familiar with manufacturing systems and have basic mechanical and electrical skills.
- Must be able to stoop, bend, sit, crouch, twist, balance, climb, squat on a regular basis as well as standing for long periods of times.
- Must be able to work in various environments, including cold, wet, warm, hot and dusty.
- Must be able to work weekends and overtime.
- Must be able to read and interpret schematics and drawings, equipment manuals, work orders, preventive maintenance plans and instructions.
- Must be detail-oriented, result driven and a problem solver.
- Must wear steel toe boots.
- Must be a team player while also being able to work independently.
- Perform any duties required by management.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Prior industrial ammonia refrigeration experience preferred but not required.
