Cooks Job Description

This is a basic job outline for our cook and culinary staff but does not limit you in doing your job and the bottom line is our guests expect certain things when dinning out and they expect great food if we want them to return.

*Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds. This would also include carrying pans, trays, plate ware, bus tubs and other equipment related to your job that will require repeated actions in the course of your shift.

*Must be able to stay on your feet for your entire shift (excluding your breaks) while doing your job functions constantly bending, lifting, twisting, turning and many other movements related to this job.

*Must be able to work all scheduled shifts 365/24/7 as well as any overtime or holiday hours.

*Must be on time and follow all written and verbal job instructions of the company as well as all state and federal guidelines related to your job. Being late, call outs or no shows more than three (3) times in a 12 month period could result in termination. Must be able to operate the Dish Machine efficiently and keep all areas clean.

*Required to greet all customers and staff with eye contact and a warm smile while assisting the other department staff if needed

Required to read all MSDS Sheets or other material that is printed in to enhance our communication with our fellow workers and guests. You must be able to communicate verbally in English as well being able to read and write it.

*Assist the other cooks and kitchen and service staff with anything needed or that pertains to what we do in our trade and daily job functions.

*Clean and sanitize all Plate ware and Silverware as well as all areas in the kitchen where food is handled, prepare or stored. Keep the Dishwashing machine clean and all filters rinsed with all chemicals required in place and working.

*Assist the service or culinary staff when needed and communicate any concerns to your manager.

*Complete any of your job duties including but not limited to cleaning, restocking and any other work prior to the end of your shift so the oncoming shift is ready for their shift and will be doing the same thing for the next shift and so on.

*Also there is no eating in the kitchen or in the side stations at anytime. This is a health department violation and is unacceptable.

*No hourly employees are to use their cellular phone while at work. It is to be left in your car and you can access it on your break.

All hourly employees that work over five (5)) hours must take a mandatory thirty (30) minute break by California State Law. There will be no tolerance in this area it is a must. Never leave your work area for a break unless your supervisor is aware you are going to be gone for any amount of time.

*When returning from a break you are required to wash your hands prior to going back on the floor. NEVER complain about your job, the company or coworkers to other staff members because they cannot help solve any issues that concern the operation.

*Your personal appearance and dress standards must be to our standards as well as the Health Department Guidelines. You must have your hair up so it does not end up in the food and always wear a clean uniform, a hat and proper Non Slip Resistant Shoes.
