Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT)

MAPS is a treatment clinic that specializes in evidence-based, scientifically proven interventions that take place through play therapy. MAPS offers Social Skills programs, Adaptive Skills Training programs, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) groups  and Educationally Related Mental Health Services (ERMHS).

We are hiring an AMFT to be a Group Facilitator for our Tween (ages 10-13) and Teen (ages 14-18) social skills group programs!

Clients in the DBT program meet in small groups twice a week for up to two hours per session and focus on ways to change behavioral, emotional thinking, and interpersonal patterns associated with problems in life. Clients are taught skills across four core areas of DBT: mindfulness, interpersonal effectiveness, emotion regulation, and distress tolerance.  Clients also practice their social skills with peers through group games and activities.

Clients in the school program are receiving weekly counseling services as allocated in their school IEP. The goals of therapy are to enhance academic performance, develop coping skills, social skill development, and parent training. Students meet with the therapist to target these goals and also collaborate with other school staff (teachers, resource, school psychologist, principal etc) to support the students growth and development. The therapist participates in IEP meetings to update the student team on progress and make recommendations for other educationally related mental health goals. 

Job Summary:

The program’s Associate Marriage and Family Therapist is responsible for supervising the therapeutic and philosophic integrity of the DBT tween program. Duties include: program development and evaluation; support and leadership for Paraprofessional faculty and development; parent leadership and support; and administrative duties requiring organizational experience. This can be either a part time or full time position with flexible hours.  The minimum required availability for this position is Tuesday-Friday, 1:30pm-6pm.

MAPS will offer you professional growth in the following areas:

• Weekly individual/dyadic supervision provided (BBS requirement) with a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (up to six hours/week).

• Opportunity to build up private practice clients with supervision of a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.

• Model professional conduct in relations with all constituencies of the program.

• Engage in ongoing professional development activities.

Minimum Requirements:

• Associate Marriage and Family Therapist Registration

• Strong communication skills (written and verbal)

• Valid California Driver’s License and auto insurance

• Participate in Fingerprint and Background check

• Valid CPR/First Aid Certification

• TB Test

• Provide proof of immunizations (MMR, Varicella)

Pay and Benefits:
