Responsibilities




The Lead Environmental Services Technician is responsible for carrying out set plans and leading department activities such as huddles and coordination of labor during their shift to ensure all hospital areas are safe, orderly and in sanitary condition in the absence of the supervisor. The job may entail access, cleaning or transporting of hazardous, pharmaceutical, chemo-therapy, chemical, soiled or other regulated materials. Perform cleaning of public areas, patient rooms, surgical suites, ancillary, administrative offices, and physician areas to ensure a clean, safe and attractive environment for staff, patients, physicians and visitors. This position is exposed to hazardous materials and a variety of infectious diseases.





Qualifications




Required Minimum Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

 

Required Minimum Experience

  • Three (3)  years in healthcare or hospitality experience; Customer service trained and able to use and teach proper scripting; ordering supplies and linen to par levels; familiar with floor cleaning and maintenance equipment; proficient on cleaning all clinical settings.

 

Required Minimum Certification

  • CHEST preferred.

 

Required Minimum Skills

  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Excel and Word; operate enhanced Environmental Services Technologies (ultra-violet disinfecting technology); communicate effectively in the English language; work effectively in a fast paced environment with continuous exposure to known occupational risk factors; lead departmental huddles and reassign staff to meet the need of the facility; perform a proper terminal clean in the OR, ER and IP care areas; able to serve as a front line team member in most areas of the facility; effectively communicate with diverse work groups which include clinical and business departments; train employees and serve as a positive role model and preceptor; demonstrate compliance with departmental and organizational policies and regulations; problem solving and managing up.
