CNC Setup Machinist

Day shift set up machinist wanted with strong Haas skills

4th Axis Machine and Design is a precision machine shop in Albertville serving the energy, power sports, medical, defense, and aerospace industries with critical components.

Applicants must have good working knowledge of CNC programs. Programming experience is a plus, but applicants do not need to be able to program, although must be able to read and work with CNC programs.

CNC controls used are Fanuc and Haas

Small lot production runs usually less than 100 piece lots, occasionally higher quantities are run.

Applicant must have good problem solving skills, mechanical ability, good work ethic, able to work with little direction, ability to read blue prints, attention to detail, self-motivated, punctual, and can interact well with others.

Capable of selecting/ordering/using appropriate cutters based on part geometry and material. We welcome anyone with considerable experience with CNC machines and programming.

Shifts Available: Day  Monday - Friday

CNC Machinist Duties and Responsibilities:

• Operate CNC Lathe and Mill
• Perform quality inspection on completed parts
• Build cutting tools
• Set up vises and fixtures
• Set up jaws/stops/locating pins/etc.
• Pick up fixture and tool offsets
• Run set-up parts
• Run small production lots

CNC Machinist Position Requirements:

• Operator experience with CNC Lathe, Mill (horizontal and vertical) and wire EDM
• Experience with work holding and cutting tool set-up on CNC Lathe and Mill (horizontal and vertical)
• Strong math background, preferable in machine math/shop math
• Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints
• Experience with both Haas and Fanuc machine controls
• Ability to read measurement equipment such as micrometer, caliper, pressure micrometer

CNC Machinist Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Machining experience with Aerospace components, devices, or instruments
• Experience with set-up on CNC Lathe and Mill
• Experience with hand inspection and surface plate inspection
• Programming experience a plus
