About this job

Manufacturing and Production Technicians use their hands and tools to fabricate and assemble complex prototypical mechanical and electrical systems that support the designs created by their Design and Integration colleagues.

M&P Technicians are often called upon to support complex mock-ups in multiple sites and to participate in installations for new or renovated attractions. These are hands-on technical positions that demand advanced training in one or more mechanical or electrical trade.

CORE FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participate in project goals
  • Provide technical oversight to outside vendors contracted to produce animation
  • Guide the effort of developing conceptual technical designs for animation
  • Identify issues and develop mitigation plans towards long term resolution (i.e.; practices, process)
  • Provide direct input into a review of company standards relative to the design and production of animation
  • Develop, introduces and oversees new ideas to enhance work processes and expresses the initiative to carry through to implementation
  • Guide the ongoing project estimating and scheduling effort

TECHNICAL SKILLS

  • Basic working knowledge of MS Office products (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Basic Carpentry skills
  • Experience with mechanism design and assembly
  • Coordinate fabrication and assembly models/drawings
  • Basic welding skills including lay-up, tack, and finish welds in TIG and MIG

MECHANICAL SKILLS:

  • Experience with mechanism design and assemblies
  • Ability to design simple parts and mechanisms
  • Ability to read and interpret fabrication and assembly drawings
  • Computer skills and CNC programming in G-code
  • Proficiency in Solidworks, AutoCAD and Mastercam
  • Measurement to tight tolerance, cutting, machining, and grinding skills
  • Welding skills including fixturing, lay-up, tack, and finish welds in TIG and MIG

ELECTRICAL SKILLS:

  • Experience with reading and interpret wiring diagrams, wiring lists and connector schedules
  • Produce wiring diagrams, wiring lists and connector schedules
  • Troubleshoot simple assemblies and systems
  • Basic repair skills using state-of-the-art diagnostic techniques, equipment, and software
  • Experience with electronic and electrical design principles
  • Advanced set-up and repair skills using state-of-the-art diagnostic techniques, equipment, and software
  • Understanding of UL Compliance related to product line

SURFACE DEVELOPMENT SKILLS:

  • Knowledge of clean-up complex fiberglass or silicone tools and parts
  • Knowledge of fabricate high temp epoxy molds
  • Knowledge of simple fiberglass lay-up, silicone molds and silicone parts

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant industry experience
  • Demonstrated experience in a collaborative work environment
  • Understanding of mechanism design and assembly
  • Coordinate fabrication and assembly models/drawings
  • Comparison of alternatives and determination of the proper course of action
  • choices and decisions without guidance from the lead or executive management
  • Basic welding skills including lay-up, tack, and finish welds in TIG and MI
  • Read and interpret fabrication and assembly drawings
  • Experience with physical mechanics, CNC programming in G code
  • SolidWorks experience

Desired Qualification

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant industry experience
  • Demonstrated experience in a collaborative work environment
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in mechanical fabrication and assembly with military ror industrial experience in electrical/electronic production

Education

  • Associates of Arts degree preferred or equivalent work experience (3 years' experience working directly with Animation design and fabrication College degree preferred, High school diploma or equivalent require

The hiring range for this position in Glendale, CA is $69,946 to $93,830 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
