LEAD TEACHER- ECC

JOB SUMMARY: A Child Development Center Teacher plans and implements a daily curriculum and educational activities to meet goals and objectives of individual children as well her classroom group of children.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Maintain current knowledge of applicable federal and state privacy laws
2. Plans and implements classroom curriculum.
3. Supervises and directs activities of Classroom staff and volunteers.
4. Maintains standards to ensure compliance with regulatory and licensure agencies.
5. Prepares reports as necessary to assure compliance with National Easter Seals, and all other agencies and as requested by the President and Board of Directors, i.e. employee performance appraisals, program statistics, documentation of children’s goals and objectives, and parent conferences.
6. Maintain accurate and up to date student files.
7. Completes state and other governing bodies training requirements within required time frame.
8. Maintains current First Aid and Infant/Child CPR certification.
9. Preserves the integrity and confidentiality of protected health information of Easter Seals clients.
10. Understands, acknowledges, and implements Easter Seals privacy policies involving the disclosure of protected health information of Easter Seals clients.
11. Maintains a clean, safe, hazard-free work environment.
12. Completes other responsibilities as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

College degree in Early Childhood Education or equivalent preferred, CDA Credential accepted.

Early childhood teaching experience required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Current knowledge of HIPAA laws.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and manage numerous activities at one time.
• Possess good organizational skills.
• Demonstrates a strong commitment to self-development.

PHYSICAL CAPABILITIES:

• Able to express or exchange ideas by spoken word and in written communication
• Able to receive oral communication via phone and in person
• Ability to lift and carry children weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Stooping, kneeling crouching and reaching.
• See and hear clearly in order to provide a safe environment.

USE OF TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT:

• Able to operate copier, fax machine, and computer

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Willingness to work additional hours, including coverage for vacations, special events, annual meetings, increase activity, or another employee’s time off
