CNC Operator Machinist

High Precision tool and die shop in Horsham, PA is looking for qualified CNC machinist for our shop. We are a family run business that has been supplying the electronics and medical industries for over 30 years. We are a medium volume, high variety shop. We fabricate parts in the range from 1 piece per year to over 1000 pieces per year. We are not a production shop, but we adhere to lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles.

We mainly work with tool steels and stainless steel. We do not do cheap work, so not looking for the quickest employee, i am looking for the one who will do it right, every time, in a productive timeframe. Attention to detail is a must. We do not perform "quick and dirty" jobs to just get out the door. It must be right.

There is also an opportunity to expand into learning how to operate our EDM machines. These machines usually require tighter tolerances and more rigid inspection.

Our tolerances are usually in the .002" range for milling, sometimes closer. We are a full service shop, and we perform grinding and EDM services as well. These services are downstream from milling, so they need perfect parts (within .0002") all the time.

We only have one shift, 7 am to 5:30 pm, Monday thru Friday.

Responsibilities and Duties

Operate and maintain various 3 axis Makino vertical milling machines, along with manual mills

Understanding the programming of these machines

Inspect parts at all stages to confirm within specifications

Utilize shop and personal measuring equipment

Set heights and compensations for all types of drills, endmills, cutters

Qualifications and Skills

Ability to understand G code instructions

Must be able to read a print and understand tolerancing

Must know how to determine that a part is square

Part pickup, setup, fixturing

Must know how to use micrometers, surface gages indicators, and other inspection equipment
