Position Title: CaregiverReports to: Facility Administrator and Assistant Administrator Reporting to this position: NoneSummary

The Caregiver is responsible for promoting the health and well-being of every resident by providing direct care to residents while promoting the resident’s highest level of functioning. The Caregiver will assist in maintaining the resident’s environment in a safe and neat manner within facility standards and State and Federal Regulations.

The primary functions of the position include:

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Understands and agrees with Rivera Mansions LLC philosophy and goal to maintain, improve and/or enhance each resident’s quality of care and quality of life. Be proficient in and maintain compliance with Employee Handbook and other employee materials.
  1. Assist residents with the following Activities of Daily Living:
    • Grooming (dressing, shaving, denture care, hair care, foot/skin care, etc.)
    • Toileting (perineum/bottom care, assist with changing incontinent residents, monitor urine/BM output, etc.)
    • Feeding
    • Assist with mobility, transferring, lifting, repositioning, stand by assist, operate transfer equipment
    • Assist with social, activities and emotional needs, including any planned facility or recreational activities
    • Assist with exercise and range of motion
    • Assist with resident’s ability to communicate (hearing aids, talking devices, facility call light system)
    • Cleaning (resident’s rooms, dining rooms, bathrooms/showers, floors/carpets, hallways, kitchen, smoking areas).
    • Laundry (wash, fold, distribute, keep laundry facility and linen clean and organized).
  1. Assist with our facility administrative tasks such as:
    • Answer incoming facility phone calls and take messages when needed.
    • Communicate well with other caregivers, med-aides, Administrator, Operations Manager, residents, visitors and members of various healthcare personnel (physicians, nurses, case managers, etc.)
  1. Work with the nurses, med-aide and other facility personnel to build relationships and strong communication with residents, families and associates.
  1. The above duties are not meant to restrict initiative, but rather to define minimum activities. These duties may be altered to suit the needs of the Company.

Decision making: Makes sound decisions in a timely manner that encompasses objectives, risks, implications, costs, and values.

Qualifications and Job Skills Requirements

The position requires a hands-on professional and have the following qualifications:

  • High school graduate required; Current CNA license/certificate is preferred, and CPR certification required
  • One to two years of experience in a residential care, assisted living or a memory care facility preferred;
  • Experience and knowledge of current federal and state healthcare/assisted living/residential care facility rules and practices;
  • Excellent writing and communication skills to work effectively with peers, residents, managers, and others;
  • Should have excellent multitasking skills; Ability to work in a team oriented environment is required;

Physical Demands

May be required to lift up to 30 lbs. Requires basic office work, including sitting, walking, climbing stairs, kneeling, bending and operating office equipment that is hand operated. Driving required – must have valid driver’s license for three or more years with no more than one moving violation; proof of automobile liability insurance when driving personal vehicle.

Work Environment

Excellent individual performance is expected but organization goals will be realized through dedicated teamwork pursuing organization objectives. While doing this job, the Caregiver could be exposed to infectious waste, diseases, and body fluids which can contain AIDS and Hepatitis viruses. Chemical exposure is limited to cleaners, disinfectants and personal care items. The Caregiver is required to provide on-call hours and may be required to work night shift, weekends and holidays.
