Job Description

Responsibilities: Under the direction of, and in coordination with, the Director of Nursing, the RN Team Lead ensures the provision of high quality, well-coordinated medical services. The RN will lead a clinical support staff and will perform both supervisory and clinical nursing duties. Key Responsibility Areas: 1. Satisfies Core Competencies • Accepts responsibility for ensuring that his/her nursing practice and conduct meet the standards of the professional, ethical, and relevant legislated requirements. 2. Clinical Duties • Perform clinical nursing duties with high integrity, quality and under the clinical supervision of the Director of Nursing, and in coordination with the clinical care teams • Coordinate patient flow for the clinical care teams • Perform nursing visits which may include, but not be limited to: STI testing and treatment, pregnancy tests, injections, BP checks, urine tox screens, education, TB tests, etc. (as directed by providers). • Perform basic in-house lab tests; obtain and process specimens for outside laboratories • Assist and facilitate patients in obtaining medical services, including scheduling patients as appropriate, providing patient triage, performing nursing assessments, and obtaining health information and other relevant data for all patients who walk-in to the clinic seeking services • Take and record vital signs, recognize any variances, outliers or red flags, and take appropriate action • Assures quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards; measuring health outcomes against patient care goals and standards; making or recommending necessary adjustments; following hospital and nursing division's philosophies and standards of care set by state board of nursing, state nurse practice act, and other governing agency regulations 3. Team Lead Duties • Assists in the supervision of the clinical support care teams. • Assists to organize and assign duties and tasks to clinical team members. • Establish clinical team member work schedule. • Assist medical assistants, nurses and providers with maintaining patient flow to ensure patients are seen timely and efficiently. • Monitor daily performance of clinical team members to ensure duties are completed accurately, efficiently, and timely. • Identify and recommend solutions to improve clinic processes and patient experience. • Ensure high quality clinical care for patients by reviewing and researching concerns or complaints and recommending corrective action as appropriate. • Implement or recommend disciplinary action as needed in conjunction with Director of Nursing. Document all disciplinary action. • Manage clinical supplies to ensure that adequate supplies are always available and that supply purchases are cost efficient and within the budget. • Serve as a back-up for clinical team members as needed by working as a provider's primary nurse or assistant due to staffing needs including vacations, illnesses, lunches, etc. • Assist with or conduct periodic staff meetings with clinical team members to share information received from nursing staff meetings and/or specific trainings. • Ensure implementation and compliance with clinical policies and procedures. Identify and recommend new or revised policies and procedures as needed to ensure quality, compliance, accuracy, and cost efficiency. Minimum Qualifications: • Bachelor of Science or Associate degree in Nursing with current RN Louisiana license • BLS Healthcare Provider is required Physical Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
