Job Description and Contract

Position: Childcare staff (Full and Part Time) *** ALSO SEEKING AN EXPERIENCED TEACHER FOR A GROUP OF CHILDREN AGED AROUND 5 YEARS OLD***

Hours: 40 per week/20 per week

Responsible to: Directors and Program Supervisors

General Duties: Responsible for all aspects of care: nurturing, interacting, and supervising of the children in the center. Serve as a role model for children as well as families. Plan and implement age appropriate activities. Assist administration in maintaining smooth operation of the center. The Owner or Director may at any time change or alter employee duties, schedule, and responsibilities.

Responsibilities:

· Must be reliable, reporting to work on time.

· Flexible and team oriented.

· Must be able to communicate with co-workers, parents, and children in a positive, respectful, and effective manner.

· Must be alert mentally/physically and maintain confidence in a positive manner even in stressful situations.

· Maintain the classroom in an appealing child centered way.

· Must have working knowledge of all policies concerning safety, health, cleaning/sanitizing/disinfecting, social distancing, philosophy, vacations, sick leave, emergencies, etc.

· Attend all staff meetings, in-service days, and seek out training opportunities.

· Perform all opening and closing duties as needed.

· Ensure the health and safety of the children at all times.

· Staff will not gossip with co-workers or parents.

· Staff will not socialize with parent(s) and or the children outside of work.

· Staff will not babysit or do any kind of work with/for any Cottage School Families

· Perform yearly parent conferences as needed.

· Maintain MERIT training standards and keep all personnel requirements up to date. (First aid/CPR, food handler’s permit, blood borne pathogens cert, TB vaccination, etc.)

· Demonstrate professional skills in classroom management, transitions, lesson planning, and overall interactions with the children.

· Plan and implement age appropriate activities.

· Must be able to work in a diverse environment.

· Maintain a safe and clean environment that is child-centered.
