About us:
The New Jersey Expanding Capabilities Center (NJECC) is a progressive day habilitation program, servicing adults 21+ with developmental disabilities to be as functional and independent in their day-to-day lives as possible. Our program will provide our clients with the opportunity to participate within their community, gain knowledge and skills to complete day-to-day tasks, as well as practice and engage in social interactions and relationships. Clients will also be provided with access to therapeutic services, including but not limited to occupational therapy, physical therapy, and speech therapy. These therapeutic services not only allow for continuity of care for our clients just recently graduating from high school, but continued opportunity to develop independent living skills.
We are seeking a Speech Language Pathologist to join our team! You will evaluate and treat patients with speech, language, voice, and fluency disorders.
Responsibilities:
- Develop therapy and treatment plans for speech disorders
- As part of the intake process, complete a speech, feeding, and swallowing evaluation
- Implement ongoing services for clients with communication disorders
- Establish treatment goals with clients
- Document and store treatment plans and progress reports
- Update client progress to relevant parties
- Implement the use of communication devices
- Advocating for clients who need speech services, but are not already receiving them
Qualifications:
- NJ Certified from the American Speech, Language, and Hearing Association (ASHA)
- Experience with population served is preferred
- Knowledge of development and associated diagnosis required
- Minimum experience of 1 year in the field
- Ability to build rapport with clients
- Familiar with the DDD policies is a plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Positive and patient demeanor
