SUMMARY: The Admission Specialist is responsible to consult with the Admission Director to ensure implementation of the best standard for assessments, and admissions. The Admission Specialist responds to incoming inquires and vetting appropriately to qualify the caller moving them through the admissions process and converting them to admission. Responsibilities include answering and managing incoming and referral leads via email, fax, and phone, qualifying leads and assessing for admission into all levels of care with potential residents, families, referral sources, and treatment team, manage all inquiries courteously and appropriately, and updating appropriate databases. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Performs clinical assessments to determine medical necessity and appropriateness for various programs within Moriah Behavioral Health * Assist the Admissions Director in completing data reporting on efficiency of the department * Answers and responds immediately to telephone inquiries concerning potential client admission * Supports national outreach efforts * Responds with a heightened sense of urgency to move time sensitive admissions through the admit process with efficiency * Advanced understanding of clinical terms * Able to build connections while creating trust and rapport * Brings a demeanor of empathy, compassion and caring * Upholding compliance with CARF standards * Serve as the point of contact to the Admissions department * Notifies Admissions Director of professional referral sources * Develops and maintains professional relationships with referents such as EAPs, doctors, clinicians, facilities, and families * Documents all inquiries and admissions activities * Assists in calling referrals and daily follow-up * Provide first-line response to inquiries and troubleshoot time-sensitive issues raised by referrals * Conduct tours of facilities as needed for prospective clients * Assign accommodations for admission related to nursing care needs, clients, and resident's family * Strong understanding of insurance benefits as well as medical necessity criteria * Adhere to all necessary laws and regulations governing the facility operations * Ensure the provision of high-quality patient care * Develops and implements professional growth * Follows all Moriah Behavioral Health's policies and procedures * Performs other related duties as assigned by management SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: * Indirectly supervises the Admission Coordinator * Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. * Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. QUALIFICATIONS: * Masters in psychology or related field * Active licensure in Nevada LCSW, LMFT, CPC * 2 years' experience in behavioral health field, eating disorder experience, and utilization review preferred. * Clinical assessment including analysis and problem-solving competences * Patience, understanding, and compassion for those requiring our care * Excellent written and verbal communications skills * Must be willing to be available 24 hours a day (for on-call positions). * Applicant must be either a U.S. Citizen or have the legal right to work in the United States. * Must meet federal, state, and local Criminal Clearance and Child Abuse Indexing requirements. * Applicants must pass a drug screen and submit to random drug tests as requested. * Applicants are also required to pass a general medical evaluation.
