Job Description

We are currently seeking a Water Laboratory Analyst/Senior Analyst that will work in our Prescott Valley office. The company maintains a state certified environmental laboratory, which supports our Environmental Services Division that performs water analysis using Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and The Department of Health Guidelines. The lab also accepts samples from outside clients for performing analysis on water, wastewater, and soil samples. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional customer service, answer water quality and related questions, and perform observed drug screen collections.

Work Schedule:

Monday - Friday 8:30AM - 5PM (closed on the weekends and all major holidays).

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assures the quality of laboratory data which includes but is not limited to maintaining accurate records chains of custody(s), log analyses, reports and computerized records.
  • Maintains quality control to assure analytical accuracy and precision of test results.
  • Maintains laboratory inventory, reports chemical stocks and supplies.
  • Prepares written reports, correspondence and reviews data.
  • Compiles and records data onto worksheets, logs and forms, performs calculations and transfers data to computer.
  • Assists clients in completing compliance reports to ADEQ, engineering clients, tribal entities, and local customers.
  • Knowledge of computer applications in a laboratory and their use in routine record keeping procedures (Word & Excel)
  • Completes assigned work within established deadlines in accordance with laws, directives, policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Requires the ability to provide guidance, assistance, and/or interpretation to others on water related customer questions, primary and secondary EPA limits, and remediation techniques.
  • Establishes and maintains cooperative working relationships with other employees, state regulators, and clients.
  • Emphasizes the importance of maintaining a positive image.
  • Collects specimens for drug screens, paternity tests, oral, hair, alcohol tests etc.
  • Administrative and clerical duties as necessary
  • Performs financial transactions
  • Performs gender specific observed collections in compliance with state and federal guidelines

Competencies:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
  • Strong computer skills to include Word and Excel
  • Has considerable knowledge of the laws, rules, standards, and regulations pertaining to the essential duties and responsibilities of the position.
  • Has working knowledge of water sampling practices, federal rules pertaining to water sampling, and proper ADEQ forms and reporting.
  • Has a combination of training and experience which demonstrates that a person has obtained the required knowledge and is able to perform the required work.
  • The ability to work independently with minimum supervision

Qualifications:

  • Previous water laboratory experience is not required but is preferred.
  • Qualified candidates will have: knowledge of water and wastewater laboratory methods, test procedures and techniques, equipment, and safety practices, including wastewater treatment methods and procedures.
  • Professional water/wastewater licenses or certificates from ADEQ or another state are preferred
  • Must pass all necessary background checks
  • Must be able to obtain a Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Must have a current and valid driver license
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
  • Must be able to pass a drug test
