Responsible for control of accounting functions for Hi-Line Cooperative Inc. Serves as Director of Information Technology and Human Resources. Focus is to keep the Cooperative in government compliance. Strong Leadership is a priority. High standard of business ethics must be maintained.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This job requires supervisory duties. Demonstrated leadership ability, team management and interpersonal skills. PERFORMANCE MEASURES: o Accounting documents, records and reports are prepared, maintained, and typed accurately and in a timely manner. o Department files are appropriately maintained. o Account reconciliations are correct and completed in a timely manner. o Good communication and coordination exists with Company personnel. Assistance and support are provided as needed. o Management is appropriately informed of activities. o Accounting functions are completed in accordance with established standards, policies and procedures. QUALIFICATIONS: Education and/or Experience: o Bachelor degree in business or a related field; or 5 years of management experience in a business accounting department. o This position requires attention to detail and high compliance skills. o Experience working with information technology to manage accounting and other software packages. Required Knowledge: o Knowledge of Microsoft Office computer application. o Ability to learn accounting software. o Advanced knowledge of accounting. o Advanced knowledge of Information Technology. o Advanced knowledge of Human Resources. Skills/Abilities: o Leadership skills. o Attentive to detail and accurate. o Well organized. o Cooperative and willing to assist others. o Able to use computer applications, office equipment, and telephone. Language Skills: o Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. o Ability to write complex reports and correspondence. o Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization. Mathematical Skills: o Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. o Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Reasoning Ability: o Ability to solve practical problems with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. o Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Current Drivers License. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES: o Accounting Activities o Maintains General Ledger. o Prepares month-end financial statements. o Reviews all month-end closing activities including general ledger maintenance and balance sheet reconciliations. o Enhance and implement financial and accounting systems, processes, and control systems. o Serves as final point of escalation for Accounts Receivable/Accounts Payable issues. o Develop and manage accounting staff. o Serve as key point of contact for external auditors; manage preparation and support of external audits. o Responsible for tax status, tax compliance and proper filing of tax returns. o Ensure legal and regulatory compliance regarding financial issues. o Financial Planning o Assists department managers with preparation of annual budget. o Provides training and leadership in financial planning. o Supervises the Accounts Payable controller. o Coordinates Employee Training o Coordinate employee training programs in cooperation with department managers to ensure employee growth and development. o Assist in delivering training programs. o Assist department managers with preparing employee development plans for each employee. o Assist in planning meetings for the cooperative. o Serves as Information Technology Director o Works with President and department managers to determine what information is needed for management decisions. o Supervise the development and distribution of needed information. o Develop, update and enhance the accounting system for optimum accuracy, timeliness and efficiency. o Make and use the accounting system as a proactive decision-making tool for management use in forecasting and analysis. o Supervise Computer Systems Administrator. o Serves as Human Resources Director o Leads recruiting activities for department managers. o Assures that employee files are maintained and reviewed annually for accuracy. o Supervises all functions of payroll. o Responsible for the Coop 401k plan and Coop Retirement plan assuring that timely and accurate reports and deposits are made. o Manage employee Health insurance and Life insurance plans. o Assists and advises company managers about HR issues. o Maintains regulatory compliance relating to employees and HR. o Investigates employee complaints and recommends appropriate action. o Coordinates with the Safety Director and monitors safety compliance. o Supervises the Human Resources Assistant. o Attends and participates in meetings as required. o Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned. o Provides leadership for all administrative employees. o Notifies the President on issues that affect the Cooperative. o Serves as Recorder for the Board of Directors. o Maintains strict confidentiality. o Ensures that work area is clean, secure and well maintained. o Completes special projects and miscellaneous assignments as required.
