Automotive Body Technician

A body repair technician is able to repair vehicle bodies and straighten vehicle frames. Our shop specializes in larger fleet box trucks, but we also work on smaller cars and vehicles often.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Thoroughly examine the vehicle damages

Return the vehicle back to factory specifications

Remove vehicle trim to gain access to vehicle body

Replace body panels, corners, or other parts

Can properly fill depressions with body filler and insure a quality repair

Able to remove damaged parts using power tools and cutting torch

Bolt or weld replacement parts in position using power tools and welding equipment

Straighten bent automobile frames

File, grind and sand repaired surfaces, using power tools and hand tools

Aim headlights

Replace bolts on panels and align properly

Make cosmetic repairs

Perform other duties as assigned by management

Use special equipment to restore damaged metal frames and body sections back to original specifications

Able to develop appropriate and efficient methods for each job

Helping to prepare and mask vehicles for paint

COMPETENCIES/SKILLS

Drivers License, to assist in delivering vehicles on occasion.

1-4 years body shop experience strongly preferred.

Effective communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills required.

Ability to adapt to and work effectively within a constantly changing environment.

Excellent problem solving skills required.

Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time

Ability to perform repetitive tasks; manual dexterity

Vision abilities required include close, distance and depth perception

Lifting heavy objects

Willing to accept applications for new and less skilled workers as well, so long as you are willing to learn and develop.
