POSITION SUMMARY:     

Under minimal supervision, operates, maintains, services and repairs all electro / mechanical equipment on and in the campus facilities and any other related duties as may be required.

                                                                       

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Exercises competency in identifying and correcting HVAC / MEP equipment defects 
  2. Operates, maintains and repairs all electro /mechanical systems on site.  This would include HVAC equipment and controls, fan and blowers including troubleshooting of motors, heat exchangers, boilers, chillers, cooling towers, air‑conditioning and refrigeration units (base diagnostics), pumps etc.
  3. Performs all PM Tasks as directed by existing CMMS and observations.
  4. Advises supervision of identified defects in equipment and any potential problems observed during their tour.
  5. Carries out various plumbing and general repair tasks – first responder duties.
  6. Maintains any equipment logs as dictated by management
  7. Assists other trades as needed.
  8. Keeps mechanical equipment rooms safe and clean.

 

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:

Lesser skilled positions tbd

 

EQUIPMENT:

Assorted power and hand tools, gauges, multi meters and HVAC system test equipment.

 

SPECIAL SKILLS:

Mechanical aptitude and capable of working independent of supervision under own initiative. 

Must have the ability to interpret basic wiring and mechanical schematics. 

A working knowledge of the operation of sprinkler / standpipes and related fire protection systems is desired.

Strong familiarity with boilers, water heaters and air handling equipment.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Hazardous conditions exist when working with plant /machinery, asbestos, climbing and lifting.

 

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

High School Diploma or Trade School Certificate

EPA Universal Technician desired

Current State Driver’s License

 

WORK EXPERIENCE:

Two (3) years prior experience in a similar position and environment is required.
