Job description:
- Client is currently seeking a System Administrator (Disaster Recovery) who will be responsible for participating in planning, implementing, and troubleshooting disaster recovery solutions for the organization's server/application infrastructure.
- The engineer will work closely with other stakeholders to ensure that critical systems and data are protected and can be quickly restored in the event of a disaster.
- The role requires a strong understanding of server technologies, backup and recovery processes, disaster recovery best practices, and excellent troubleshooting skills.
Responsibilities:
- Participate in the planning and implementation of disaster recovery solutions for the organization's server and application infrastructure, ensuring business continuity in the event of a disaster.
- Collaborate with other technical and non-technical teams to identify critical systems and data that need to be protected according to recovery time objectives (RTO) and recovery point objectives (RPO).
- Monitor and test disaster recovery systems to ensure they are functioning properly and can be relied upon in an emergency.
- Assist with developing and maintaining disaster recovery documentation, including recovery procedures, runbooks, and system configurations.
- Collaborate with other stakeholders to ensure that disaster recovery solutions are aligned with industry best practices and meet regulatory requirements.
- Participate in disaster recovery drills and exercises to validate the effectiveness of the recovery plans and identify areas for improvement.
- Stay up to date with the latest technologies and trends in disaster recovery and server infrastructure to continuously improve the organization's disaster recovery capabilities.
- Resolve complex enterprise system hardware and software problems; collaborate with peer teams and vendors to coordinate solutions.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance during disaster recovery incidents, working closely with other teams to resolve issues and restore services as quickly as possible.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent work experience required.
- Proven experience in Windows and Linux server administration with a focus on disaster recovery.
- Strong knowledge of Windows failover clustering.
- Experience with disaster recovery planning, testing, and documentation.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to understand and comply with relevant department and/or corporate policies, procedures, and guidelines as they pertain to company data and technology.
- Knowledge and understanding of ITIL concepts such as Change Management.
- Certifications in relevant technologies, such as VMware and Microsoft, are a plus.
