GovCIO is seeking an experienced Cybersecurity Analyst to join our team. The analyst will support multiple cybersecurity efforts and proactively monitor upcoming cyber priorities across the portfolio and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

 

Responsibilities

  • Communicate and provide consultative support to the VA on matters related to system security and Authorization to Operate (ATO) matters.
  • Lead or participate in security and privacy activities within project teams.
  • Review, identify and compose system/application security controls in accordance with NIST SP-800 53, CNSSI 1253, and VA Handbook 6500.
  • Perform cyber security and information system risk analysis, vulnerability assessment, compliance assessment and gap analysis on existing systems and systems in development.
  • Responsible for the development and on-time delivery of assigned security and privacy artifacts.
  • Develop various security and privacy documents such as contingency plans, incident response plans, business impact analyses, configuration management plans, memorandums of understanding, interconnection security agreements, privacy threshold analyses and privacy impact assessments.
  • Must have experience with the Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service (eMASS) or other governance, risk and compliance tools.
  • Ability to proactively communicate and coordinate with various internal and external project stakeholders depending on needs.
  • Must be able to identify and mitigate risks to projects.
  • Identify and communicate symptoms for process improvement. 
  • Ability to work independently with minimal guidance and supervision.
  • Must be able to work efficiently in a remote work environment.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Systems, Business or related scientific/technical discipline is required. 
  • 8 years of experience.
  • 4 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education.

Required Skills and Experience

  • CISSP or equivalent IT security certification.
  • An Expert Cyber Security Analyst has extensive IT experience with Cyber Security Policy and threat mitigation. Must be well-versed in Cyber Security Tools, network topologies, intrusion detection, PKI, and secured networks.  Analyst must possess a high level of expertise in developing long term strategies and be knowledgeable about various cyber threats and their mitigation.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Experience achieving Authorization To Operate (ATO) for projects within the VA or other federal agencies.
  • Experience with the Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service (eMASS).
