JOB SUMMARY:

Employment Specialist are instrumental to the overall success of our clients. Employment Specialists will outreach to and provide adults with individualized case management, assessment, job coaching and counseling, and employment assistance including resume and job interview skills preparation that will ultimately lead to placement in the hospitality/food service/tourism sector. Employment Specialist will be expected to work with vulnerable populations including but not limited to: older opportunity youth, dislocated workers, financially insecure, immigrants, formally incarcerated, housing insecure, women, survivors of domestic violence, union members and English Language Learners.

Employment Specialist will be assigned administrative duties on site and partner with HTA Instructor, to provide holistic and inclusive participant / student support.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage case load averaging 50 active clients and take ownership of their successful outcomes
  • Document plans and services for each client, including managing case notes and individual employment plans
  • Coach clients through empowerment, by developing life skills and knowledge to ensure clients can make informed decisions
  • Act as an advocate and coach to support clients to achieve self-sufficiency
  • Identify additional social services clients are utilizing and build partnerships with social service reps to support the clients with case coordination and information sharing
  • Build strong relationships with clients to keep track of progress and assist in identifying and unblocking barriers to success
  • Record detailed case information following each point of service to include observations of client’s skills, job readiness and aptitude in program tracking system
  • Enter and maintain data, as required, to ensure accurate client and program-based data including, but not limited to, client demographics, diversity metrics, training participation job application tracking, and more
  • Ensure completion of program forms i.e., (intake/enrollment packets, referral forms, applications, etc.)
  • Adhere to standards as directed by HTA, programs and/or grants as well as HTA’s policies and procedures
  • Represent HTA at identified sourcing events, as needed
  • Additional administrative duties, as assigned, including, but not limited to: training set up, swag, inventory, orientation and class session prep, and more

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable to an ever changing environment
  • Willing and able to speak publicly to motivate large groups of people
  • Demonstrate compassion and empathy for clients and a willingness to support HTA mission
  • Possess excellent writing, communication, grammar and proofreading skills (creating professional resumes, documenting detailed case notes, introducing clients to employer partners)
  • Able to follow simple directions
  • Intermediate level computer skills, including Microsoft suite (OneDrive, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc.)
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and personal vehicle to be used for company purposes and role requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • 2 years previous related experience
  • Working knowledge of case management principles
  • Problem solving skills and ability to multi-task
  • Bilingual English & Spanish, written, verbal and reading
  • Valid Driver’s license

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bilingual English & other language, written, verbal and reading (additional languages needed: Korean and Vietnamese)
  • Working Knowledge of CalJOBS (data entry, validation & tracking)
  • Salesforce database systems, data entry (preferrable)
  • Working knowledge of workforce or job development principles
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology or other related field

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Able to lift, carry, push, pull up to 25lbs
  • Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time
