About this job

The Ohio State University College of Medicine is seeking full-time, open-rank tenure track position applicants for Clinician Investigators and PhD Researchers to join the Division of General Internal Medicine (GIM) and our large community of research faculty members as we continue to expand our team!

Recognized for providing excellent clinical care, developing and expanding nationally recognized and extramurally funded research programs, and building strategic research collaborations inside and outside the institution, our aim is to develop a leading primary care research program. Tenure track faculty will dedicate the majority of their time to research, but also to make significant contributions to the clinical and education missions of the Division. Applicants with expertise in implementation science, mixed methods, health equity, primary care research, systematic reviews and meta-analysis, and health services research are encouraged to apply. The Division conducts innovative, high-impact, health outcomes and health services research in areas such as: dissemination and implementation of preventive services; alcohol and substance use disorders; maternal/ child health; adolescent and young adult care transition; clinical health information technology; telehealth; primary care redesign; health disparities and equity; geriatrics; and clinical communication in complex disease. GIM houses the Center for Health Outcomes in Medicine Scholarship and Service (HOMES), the Pragmatic Clinical Trials Network (PCTN), and the Center for Evidence Based Practice. GIM employs over 80 clinical and research faculty and collaborates widely with investigators throughout the University, including the OSU College of Public Health, College of Nursing, College of Pharmacy, College of Social Work, and College of Arts and Sciences.  GIM operates 8 clinics across Central Ohio, and faculty from this robust clinical network engage in pragmatic clinical trials and collaborative research.  New faculty will have opportunity to collaborate with this wide network of outstanding clinicians and investigators across OSU.  They will have access to university resources including the Center for Clinical and Translational Science (OSUs Clinical and Translational Science Award from the NIH), Research Informatics Services, and the Clinical Trials Management Office.

Requirements: Clinician Investigators will have an MD or DO; Completion of Internal Medicine or IM-Peds Residency from an ACGME accredited program; and be board-certified/eligible in Internal Medicine. Fellowship training and/or a track record of independent funding is required. PhD Researchers will have a PhD in health services research, epidemiology, or a related field; and at least three years of collaborative research experience in a post-doctoral fellow and/or faculty position.

Preferred Qualifications: Completion of a primary care research fellowship, health services research fellowship, clinical scholars program, or similar is preferred. Ideal candidates would have an established record of publishing their research and obtaining funding, outstanding clinical and interpersonal skills, affinity for mentoring others, capacity to build and maintain productive collaborations, and ability to build and sustain an independent program of research.
