About this job
Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities:
- Perform installations of mobile and fixed wireless communications equipment by assembling and bolting equipment onto support structure.
- Climb towers (if certified) and install cable and antenna consistent with project requirements and according to R56 installation and safety standards. May also deconstruct installation sites as required.
- Inventory and assemble parts prior to installation work to ensure correct parts available on truck.
- Assist with optimization of equipment following installation to ensure it functions properly.
- Complete job tickets and time sheets to record installation work.
- Other duties as assigned.
Specific Job Skills:
Knowledge of basic electrical wiring. Mechanical ability to operate basic handtools and power tools, and use basic electronic equipment (voltmeter, wattmeter, and soldering iron). Knowledge of basic electrical wiring, R56 grounding standards, tower certification, radio testing methods, basic equipment testing, AS400 operations, and using service monitor and radio programming software. Strong knowledge of installation procedures for alarms, wigwags, sirens, light bars, relays, and disguised radio installs. Good oral communication skills.
Education and/or Experience:
Some higher education or vocational training specializing in electronics plus 6-12 months related experience installing mobile and fixed communications equipment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Job Conditions:
Work requires heavy lifting, constant standing, and extensive close work.
Licenses, Certifications:
- Valid Driver's License
- **Clean Driving Record is required ** (Major infractions are a disqualifier. ex: DUI, any drug motor vehicle offence, hit & run, reckless driving infractions, driving while suspended, passing a stopped school bus, involvement in a fatal accident, or 3 or more minor infractions within 3-year period)
