CAD Designer

Overview

As a CAD Designer for Civil & Environmental Consultants Inc. (CEC), you'll work across all of our practices to produce design and construction documents using AutoCAD Civil 3D including, but not limited to:

· Landfill cell development plans,

· Erosion and sedimentation control plans,

· Storm water conveyance, ponds, and drainage plans,

· Calculate quantities to be used in construction estimates and landfill cell development analyses,

· Determine earthwork volumes (cuts and fills) based on existing and proposed topography,

· Identify appropriate construction control systems on plans (i.e., baselines, stationing, control points, etc.) and prepare the same,

· Civil site plans, grading & drainage plans, utility plans, and

· Provide value-oriented design suggestions, review drawings and documents to assure compliance with company design and production standards.

Qualifications

• Ability to evaluate design alternatives to solve constructability, code, and site challenges;
• Attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and good communication skills;
• Ability to work as a team player, take direction, and interact well with others;
• At least 2 years of experience, 5+ years of experience (preferred); salary commensurate with experience and capabilities;
• Expertise with and knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D;
• Experience with ArcGIS a plus;
• Associate’s or technical degree in CAD, Construction, or Engineering or a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in similar fields from an accredited institution;
• Strong knowledge and experience using AutoCAD is required; proficiency with Civil 3D is strongly preferred; and
• Experience with HEC-RAS, HydroCAD, and other computer modeling software is a plus;

Location

Although this posistion is posted for CEC's Houston Office, we will also consider applicants who would like to apply to be in our Corpus Christi Office.
