Job Description
Personal injury law firms seek an experienced civil trial personal injury litigation assistant/paralegal for full time position. ONLY APPLY IF YOU HAVE LITIGATION EXPERIENCE.
Candidates must have full personal injury litigation experience. Strong attention to detail and excellent typing is required. Responsibilities will also require:
· Performing moderate to complex legal and other secretarial duties for attorney.
· Candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe and have full understanding and experience with State and Federal E-Filing using the CM/ECF system, Pacer, and JACS system.
· Scheduling times and locations of multi-party appearances, including depositions, mediations, arbitrations, trials, and meetings.
· Contacting and communicating with clients, witnesses, court reporters, claims personnel.
· Experience in preparing pre-suit settlement demand packages.
· Prepare medical chronologies.
· Prepare medical bill summaries, collateral source summaries.
· File management.
· Requesting documentation, including medical records/bills/liens.
· Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge:
Candidate must have proven knowledge of Florida Civil Rules and Procedures, insurance law and practices. Advanced knowledge of medical terminology and accident liability analysis preferred. Proven knowledge of medical billing, medical terminology, PIP, UM/BI, and all insurance claims procedures. Proven analytical skills necessary to make decisions and resolve conflict. Knowledge of medical malpractice claims and Baker Act Negligence abuse claims is preferred.
Candidate is expected to have excellent written and verbal communication skills necessary to effectively communicate and/or negotiate with clients, attorneys, agents, and the public. Demonstrated leadership capabilities to effectively train, coach, and provide feedback.
Skills/Competencies:
Analytical skills used to make independent decisions and resolve conflict; coordinate the handling of cases involving serious and sometimes complex issues. Exceptional oral and written communication skills with clients, attorneys, physicians, agents, and the public. Organizational skills to effectively establish work priorities. Ability to operate a personal computer with proficient use of Excel, and/or firm software.
