Location Description

Michael Foods, Inc., located in Bloomfield, Nebraska, is one of our only cage free facilities. The facility is located three miles outside of Northeast Nebraska's busiest community. Bloomfield is a haven for those who prefer small-town life over city living and is located less than 30 miles from recreation areas where you can enjoy fishing, boating, kayaking and camping. Our location produces liquid egg product that is sent to our other facilities for further processing.
Responsibilities

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responsible for making sure the pullets have the proper amount of water, feed, proper temperature, clean house, etc.
  • Responsible for keeping daily UEP records on water, feed, mortality, ventilation and maintenance.
  • Must work closely with Lead and Pullet Supervisor.
  • Responsible for moving birds as needed.
  • Responsible for keeping all feed chains in working order.
  • Responsible for keeping all light bulbs replaced and in working order.
  • To keep all fans, motors and screens clean and protected with shields or guards.
  • Responsible for doing a daily bird runs.
  • All maintenance and repair work is to be done immediately, if problems arise, contact your lead person or supervisor.
  • Adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for running manure belts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

No prior experience or training.

Experience:

Previous experience with animal care is preferred.

Language Skills:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add and subtract numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram or schedule form.

Other skills and abilities:
  • Free of any breathing of asthmatic conditions, as dusty conditions prevail
  • Ability to work on ladders and climb steps as needed
  • Ability to perform basic maintenance tasks
  • Ability to stand most of shift and walk the 550' long buildings numerous times per day
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
