Job Description

The HTA ESL Instructor is accountable for providing curriculum development and group-format training specialized for the hospitality industry and the need of individual partner-employers. The Instructor will provide curriculum development and training at the partner-employer facilities and/or at the HTA headquarters. This is a contract, part time position. This position required in person instruction.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare materials and resources relevant to ESL classes, including a comprehensive syllabus, handouts, quizzes, tests, and assignments as needed for each course
  • Formulate curriculum, teaching outlines, and determine instructional methods such as individual training, group instruction, lectures, demonstrations, conferences, meetings, and workshops.
  • Select or develop teaching aids such as training handbooks, demonstration models, multimedia visual aids, computer tutorials, and reference workshops
  • Report on progress of employees under guidance during training periods
  • Maintain sign-in sheets, trainee attendance, and progress records for audit purposes
  • Ability to commute to HTA Headquarters and companies or partners located in Los Angeles County.
  • Additional duties, as assigned

REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Enthusiastic personality and a passion for teaching
  • Previous experience in training or facilitating small and large group meetings
  • Ability to interpret technical data, processes, operating, and maintenance instructions, and procedure
  • Strong presentation skills and knowledge of adult learning techniques
  • Committed to advancing HTA’s goals and objectives

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum BA degree from an accredited institution or higher education
  • This is position requires varied work hours and days; able to work a flexible work schedule

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge and experience with the hospitality sector
  • Experience working with predominantly Spanish to English speaking students

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Required to stand for long periods of time
  • Able to use a screen and perform computer function duties
