Job Summary and Qualifications

The HCA New Grad Residency is a yearlong residency which begins with a 10-12 week (depending on specialty), PAID Classroom/Preceptorship program. It allows new graduate nurses to obtain acute care nursing experience through an intensive internship program. Open positions will vary throughout the year, and positions will be offered based on needs of the hospital, but units that typically hire residents include:

  • Medical Oncology, Ortho Spine, Neuro Trauma, Tele
  • Progressive Care, Cardiac Progressive Care, Acute Rehab, Behavioral Health
  • ICU (limited spots available)
  • Medical surgical unit at Centennial Hospital 

Our upcoming New Grad Nurse Residency Cohorts begin on:

· June 3, 2024

  • August 5, 2024
  • August 12, 2024
  • August 19, 2024
  • August 26, 2024

Part 1: Residency Training – First 5-6 Weeks (depending on specialty):

  • Instructor-led classroom training
  • State-of-the-art simulation including comprehensive debriefs
  • Certifications needed for each unit
  • Training on charting systems

Part 2: Residency Clinical Preceptorship – Next 6-8 Weeks (depending on specialty):

  • Conducted at the hospital
  • You will be assigned a one-on-one preceptor to train you and acclimate you to your role
  • Regular development meetings between the resident, their preceptor and their Director
  • Customized Coaching/Onboarding report for clinical preceptorship

Part 3: HCA Residency Program – Remainder of your 1styear

  • Upon successful completion of the New Grad Residency Program, residents will transition to their full-time roles at the hospital and continue professional development through routine interactions with a mentor (meet at least once a month)

Requirements:

  • Current Colorado RN license or Multi-state Compact RN license (not required until 6-7)
  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing, within past 1 year
  • Basic Life Support certification
  • Self-motivated and strong communication skills required
  • Attendance is imperative throughout the Residency Training program

This role requires you to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 based on local, state and /or federal law or regulations (unless a medical or religious exemption is approved).

is a 346 plus bed acute care hospital located in Aurora, Colorado. The Medical Center of Aurora is comprised of six medical campuses in Aurora and Centennial, Colorado, including the Main Campus, the North Campus , , , , Spalding Rehabilitation at P/SL, and medical office building at Green Valley Ranch.
