Responsibilities

What You’ll Do

The Medical Technologist is responsible for conducting laboratory tests which provide information to physicians for the diagnosis, prevention, or treatment of diseases in patients. These tests have a wide range of disciplines; Transfusion Services.

 

The successful candidate will be able to:

  • Perform all designated lab procedures competently, including specimen handling and processing, test analysis and reporting, maintaining records of patient test results, quality control and management
  • Understand principles involved in test reactions and understands laboratory procedures
  • Complete and document quality control procedures for each test performed, including all quality control failures and corrective action taken
  • Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and solve problems or determine alternative solutions for analysis if needed
  • Report all deviations from established procedure to the Coordinator
  • Investigate testing problems/errors and informs Department Coordinator of all irregularities, errors of instrument failure and measures taken to solve problem
  • Perform all the responsibilities for testing personnel conducting high complexity testing as defined by CLIA 88 and CAP (College of American Pathologists), including ability to independently and successfully pass any/all CAP proficiency testing as assigned
  • Perform any and all other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Technologist – Core Lab/Basic Micro/Blood Bank

 

Qualifications

  • BS degree in Medical Laboratory Science/Medical Technology
  • ASCP or equivalent Medical Laboratory Scientist certification/eligibility
  • Experience in Hematology/Chemistry/Basic Micro required

Responsibilities

  • Perform testing in the Core Lab and Basic Micro and report results according to SOP
