Job Description
Position Title: Teen Development Program Manager
Department: StreetLeader Program
Reports to: StreetLeader Program Director
Salary : $43,584- 45,000 + PTO+ 401(K) with Employer Match Total Rewards
Position Summary:
The mission of UrbanPromise is to equip children and young adults with the skills necessary for academic achievement, life management, spiritual growth, and leadership. The Children & Youth Ministries Department (CYM) and the StreetLeader (SL) Program seek to equip youth with on-the-job training and leadership skills development through experience working at summer camps and afterschool programs. Through this program, youth develop the skills to promote positive change in their communities by mentoring younger children, experiencing meaningful employment, exploring their faith, engaging in experiential learning, and developing necessary life skills.
The TDPM is responsible for serving as a spiritual leader and mentoring the StreetLeaders on an on-going basis. As a visionary, the TDPM role can create new programs and ideas to better support, engage, and develop the StreetLeaders. The TDPM will work closely with the StreetLeader Director, Education Coordinator, College Advisor, and CYM Staff to ensure the overall UPM mission is fulfilled. During the school year, this position requires the candidate to work afternoon and evening hours to accommodate afterschool program needs. The work hours are typically 11-8pm with the occasional trip or weekend requirement. Summer programming requires an alternate schedule of mornings and afternoons.
Essential Job Functions:
1. To serve as a spiritual leader, guide, and mentor to StreetLeaders.
2. To lead life skills sessions/enrichment classes for SL’s which promote positive youth development, academic achievement, life management, spiritual growth, and leadership development.
3. To collaborate in the planning of Girls’ Empowerment programming and events (i.e. logistics, planning, transportation).
4. To assist the SL Director in the coordination and execution of annual trips and events such as SL Spring/Summer Retreats, Thanksgiving/Christmas Dinners.
5. To plan and implement monthly experiential learning opportunities for SL’s.
6. To assist the Education Coordinator in coordination of college tours and college/career development opportunities for SL program (i.e., workshops, business shadowing opportunities).
7. To promote youth engagement and retention in SL Program by creating a culture of safety & belonging that adheres with UP values of faith, community, holism, innovation.
8. To plan and manage TRIBE gatherings throughout the year in collaboration with the larger team.
9. To plan, manage and execute the annual Spring & Fall SL hiring events. This includes assuring working papers, and all HR documentation is processed.
10. To manage and track SL database, assist with grant reporting and other administrative duties.
11. To manage and coordinate on the job training and support for SL’s and Leadership team.
12. To supervise SL Leadership team’s work performance and complete bi-weekly performance evaluations. To coach the leadership team in providing weekly performance evaluations.
13. To support the Education Coordinator in providing college/career support to Juniors/Seniors by helping them set college/career goals.
14. To assist in CYM and UP special events including but not limited to Golf Tournament, Annual Banquet, More than a Beauty Pageant and other SL focused initiatives.
15. To establish, develop and maintain relationships with community partners such as local High Schools and Universities to promote SL program outcomes.
16. To advocate for student needs providing individualized attention to achieve goals and/or address barriers that arise.
17. To collaborate with all other UP departments and external partners in assuring cohesive service delivery and case management to SL’s and their families.
18. To provide daily transportation for all SL related work functions and events. This includes daily site drop-offs as well as on-going programmatic needs.
Essential Job Requirements:
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience in Youth Ministry, Education, Social Work or Related Field
EXPERIENCE
Experience working with urban youth, youth ministry, and/or social work
REQUIRED SKILLS
Knowledge and experience of Microsoft Office; Public speaking, strong interpersonal communication, organizational, time management, and teamwork/collaboration skills.
Must possess driver’s license in good standing and be comfortable driving larger vehicles. Must obtain CPR, First Aid Certification and CDL License within 6 months to a year of hire.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The is expected to perform duties and responsibilities of a physical nature. Must be able to lift a minimum of 10-15 lbs. She or he must have an ability and comfort level in driving large vehicle.
