Established in 1894, Eagle brings a wide range of industrial safety and material handling products that cater to customers in a variety of industry sectors including construction, oil and gas, utilities, transportation, chemical and medical, to name a few.

Summary

The Director of Operations will be responsible for operations at our Wellsburg, WV plant for the Justrite Safety Group that generates more than $100MM in annual revenue, including daily manufacturing operations, process engineering, quality, production control, and maintenance. The Plant Manager will drive Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement/Lean activities at the multi-site location to improve KPI's.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead plant with a focus on safety, quality, delivery, and cost through a process-driven approach.
  • Accountable for establishing a Lean culture and implementation of key Continuous Improvement tools (One-piece flow, Lean Daily Management, Standard Work, SMED, Kanban pull system, Problem Solving Process/A3 thinking etc.).
  • Developing and executing manufacturing optimization plan.
  • Developing strategy around OTD, capital utilization, labor and material efficiencies, and engineering effectiveness; setting long-term objectives for the business.
  • Collaborating to ensure coordination on global projects for material sourcing and regional manufacturing expansion.
  • Managing KPIs and other metrics around quality, productivity, purchasing, material usage, logistics, labor productivity, warehouse cost, and freight management.
  • Developing, Managing and Approving budgets.
  • Ensure engagement and clarity on the key priorities through a cadence of Gemba meetings, KPI reviews and action planning to remove obstacles and meet objectives.
  • Develop and maintain a high performing organization through selection, direction, coaching and training .
  • Mentor and empower operations team to fully own and drive the performance, quality, accountability and engagement of their organization.
  • Build and maintain a positive relationship with the union to ensure an ongoing strong working relationship.
  • Partner with functional leaders to enhance operational capabilities.
  • Assess, recommend, and implement capital improvement projects to improve output and deliver ROI.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

KEY PERFORMANCE MEASURES (0-12 months)

  • Improve safety and OSHA recordables.
  • Improve OTD and Past Due Backlog.
  • Improve & manage healthy safety stock levels for all stocked SKUs.
  • Lead continuous improvement cultural transformation.
  • Implement Lean Methodologies and create a visual factory.
  • Improve efficiencies and margins.
  • Meeting financial requirements around EBITA.
  • Meeting working capital (PPV, MUV, Inventory accuracy) goals for the Plant.

REQUIREMENTS:

Most Important Competencies Required

  • Proven experience implementing lean methodologies including Value Stream Mapping, Problem Solving Process/A3, SMED, TPM, Standard Work, Kaizen, 5S, etc.
  • Experience with developing a Lean implementation roadmap and execution.
  • Ability to operate both tactically and strategically.
  • Defining future direction of the plant; foster culture of change with a hands-on management style.
  • Experience with manufacturing optimization and footprint analysis.
  • Experience working in a team environment preferably with a small to medium size company.
  • Ability to travel as needed.
  • Experience in metal fabrication, plastic blow molding and injection molding, and/or powder coating is preferred.
  • Union workforce Experience.
  • BS in Engineering, Business, or Management.
  • MBA preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in operations management.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience with Lean and Continuous Improvement.
  • Lean Certification a plus.
