Advocacy Outreach Team Leader

Based in Portland, Maine, and offering services statewide, Preble Street's low-barrier, client-centered programs provide casework, housing, shelter, food, and other essential services to people in our community experiencing homelessness, hunger, and poverty, while advocating for long-term solutions to these problems.

An Advocacy Outreach Team Leader position is available with Preble Street to directly support Homeless Voices for Justice (HVJ) and the Food Justice Coalition (FJC), both grassroots organizations working for social change with, and on behalf of, people with lived experience of homelessness and poverty. The Team Leader will be an active liaison and work closely with the Advocacy Director and Supervisor to develop and implement strategic advocacy campaigns and coalitions in promoting positive policy change at the local, state, and federal levels. This position will also provide comprehensive administrative, data management, and grant writing support to the Advocacy team while actively collaborating with staff and community providers in timely and strategic delivery of organizing efforts.

The regular schedule for this full-time position is Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm schedule, with some work during evenings and weekends occasionally required.

The desired combination of education and relevant experience for this position includes a bachelor's degree in social work, public administration, social sciences, or related field of study, and experience working in community organizing and advocacy on poverty-related issues, or a comparable combination of education, training, and experience. Additional qualifications include:

• Alignment with Preble Street's mission and positive regard for individuals accessing services for homelessness and poverty.
• Ability to connect with and outreach individuals in a variety of environments.
• Strong skills in solutions generation and critical thinking.
• Data analysis skills, with proficiency in collecting, documenting, reporting, and communicating data and information.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.

Compensation and Benefits

The hourly rate of pay for this full-time (40 hours/week) position is $21.48 per hour. Generous paid time off, insurance, and retirement plan benefits include:

• 4 weeks (160 hours, accrued) vacation time, 12 days (96 hours, accrued) sick time, 16 hours personal time, 12 Paid Holidays
