Junior's Building Materials serves customers in Chattanooga, Tenn. and northern Georgia from two locations in Rossville and Ringgold, Ga. In addition to lumber and engineered wood products, Junior's product mix includes windows, doors, roofing, siding and millwork.

Position Overview

Receive, stock, ship, order and cou nt inventor y items. This is an entr y level position that is responsible for the safe operation of a forklift in order to stock all lumber and building materials. Perform duties within the established work and safet y procedures.

Essential Job Duties

  • Assist warehouse associates and direct supervisor in maintaining an organized work environment. Ma y in cl ude, empt y ing trash recepta cl es, and keeping all ba y s and staging areas cl ean and organized.
  • Receive incoming products, commodities and materials.
  • Provides Excellent Customer Service
  • Cou nt and record receipt of materials.
  • Stock all material received in appropriate b ins or storage locations.
  • Assist inventor y control in cou nt ing and organizing warehouse materials.
  • Compl y with all compan y policies and guidelines.
  • Operate forklift with foot and hand controls.
  • Ma y use forklift to build outgoing orders or to load completed orders onto deliver y equipment
  • Operate facilit y equipment as necessar y ( e.g. bander, power tools, various hand tools).
  • Monitor inventor y as required b y location management.
  • Retain an awareness of the work environment critical to the task at hand to produce error free and damage free results.
  • Participates in and completes assigned trainings .

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Minimum education preferred -High school diploma or GED.


  • No experience required . Will train.
  • Abilit y to do basic math, read orders, write ins t ru ctions and complete forms.
  • Abilit y /willingness to learn to read a tape measure.
  • Abilit y to effectivel y and professionall y communicate with customers, other emplo y ees and supervisors using verbal and written skills .
  • Abilit y to deal cons tru ctivel y with conflict and recognize potential problems.
  • Proficienc y with or abilit y to learn current technologies ( e.g. Smartphone, Inventor y Control S y stems, and other necessar y business applications).
  • Ph y sical demands in cl ude standing and walking for extended periods of time, exposure to extreme temperatures, bending or stooping, regularl y lifting up to 50 pounds and frequentl y up to 100 pounds or more.
