Position Description

The SAP PMO Leader is a director-level position that is responsible for the day-to-day management and ongoing strategy for all activities involved in portfolio, project, and change management inclusive of business analysis, project control.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Manages day-to-day activities in the Project Management Office (PMO) to ensure programs and projects meet organization goals, as aligned with strategy, and requirements.
  • Lead, implement and drive adoption of PMO tools and processes to effectively manage the delivery of projects for the organization.
  • Serve as reference point for PMO queries and provide guidance related to PMO processes, methodologies, and policies.
  • Portfolio management for in-flight and in-queue projects for all applications and technology projects.
  • Resource planning to ensure proper staffing of approved projects. Includes employed staff, contractors, and outsourced resources.
  • Facilitate prioritization discussions between IT and business teams’ leadership to ensure alignment on the company's IT project investments.
  • Manage the team to effectively capture functional and non-functional requirements for all projects. Ensure requirement traceability throughout the project lifecycle to ensure projects are delivered on scope.
  • Lead and manage the team to provide effective project management for all projects. Includes budget, schedule, risk, resource, and scope management. Includes appropriate application of change management practices inclusive of effective stakeholder communication.
  • Ensures the identification of risk, issues, risk response strategies and risk responses to ensure schedule compliance.
  • Ensure proper operational readiness stage gate criteria is defined and met of all projects prior to deployment to production.
  • Conduct post project assessment to capture learnings and ensure continuous improvement on tools and methodologies.
  • Provide organization and function wide reporting on project priorities, status, risks.
  • Seeks methods of improving/automating process and find ways to improve processes and profitability.
  • Develop and executes multi-year strategic roadmap across the organization with calibration exercises years; built upon interviews with business owners, prioritization, executive vision, and demand needs.
  • Collaborated with stakeholders to maintain ongoing partnership with continuous improvement mindset, working to apply knowledge and strategies to meet demands.
  • Manage and lead a team of reports within the PMO supporting project, change, and portfolio management and business analysis.
  • Lead requests for proposal/information initiatives to meet the organization and business demands from initialization to finalization.
  • Understand and maintains business acumen to support business partners to meet and exceed expectations. Drives to success technical tools and resources, business strategies and goals; functions as a leader with the ability to make decisions that impact the organization, provide direction, and set roadmaps.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree plus fifteen (15) years of related business experience and five (5) years or analytical experience required.
  • Five (5) plus years of experience in leading organizational change and/or project deployment required.
  • PMP Certification
  • Exposure to the business functions of a manufacturing enterprise from an operations, finance, supply chain, or business analysis perspective preferred.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy; strong critical self-review skills.
  • Demonstrates ability to deliver communication which is clear, concise, and relevant to audience through appropriate methods and tools.
  • Appreciates what constitutes good customer service and displays consistent commitment to delivering.
  • Exhibits a high degree of professionalism.
  • Organized methodical application of established data governance standards.
  • Proactive approach to role and problem solving; solution rather than problem focused.
  • Self-motivated, flexible, with the ability to deal with high levels of complexity, change and evolving processes, often at short notice.
  • Strong leader/coach abilities and mentality.
  • Strong understanding of SDLC and project management methodologies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Visio and Project.
  • Demonstrated mid-level or above proficiency with MS Office Excel, analyzing and manipulating large datasets through formulas and macros preferred.
  • Strong analytical abilities with experience extracting data and developing reports in an ERP environment preferred.
  • Experience defining, writing and implementing business processes and data standards preferred.
  • CPA, Six Sigma, PMP, or similar preferred.
