By working with international development partners, government ministries of health, the private sector, and other key stakeholders, Palladium applies unique user-centered models and approaches that improve health systems and supply chains; provide an evidence base for health policy and program reform; and address governance and financing challenges that create barriers to healthcare. We are proactively building a talent pool for future Manager, Project Delivery positions within our organization. The Manager, Project Delivery plays a key role in leading day-to-day management activities of the project team. Through this experience and working closely with their PMU and other teams, the Manager, Project Delivery is expected to gain the competencies and skills needed to progress to Director level roles in project delivery or functional areas. This role also typically supervises one or more Associate(s), Project Delivery or Senior Associate(s), Project Delivery ensuring their training in project management duties and best practices, while also promoting their development and growth into future Managers or functional roles.

Location and Compensation:

The position is based in Palladium's Washington DC / New York, NY / Chapel Hill, NC office.

Per company guidance, we are aiming to keep hiring closer to our main U.S. offices. If we are unable to find successful candidates who are willing to work from the D.C., NY, or NC office, then as a last resort we may discuss the possibility of considering exceptional candidates to work permanently remotely (from other U.S. states where Palladium is registered).

Reporting and Supervision:

This role will report to a Sr. Manager or Director, depending on project assignment

  • Managers typically supervise or dotted-line manage one or more Associates or Sr. Associates
  • Attendance at all regular management team meetings
  • Provision of regular updates to the line manager, including updates on Key Result Areas (KRAs) and any other material matters and/or areas of concern
  • Monthly submission of financials and forecasts, and contributions to Practice and corporate reporting
  • Other reporting as requested by the line manager

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manages tracking and documenting of project deliverables.
  • Identifies and implements new technical approaches and ways or working as projects evolve.
  • Reviews and ensures quality, prior to final approval, the processing of invoices from consultants, subcontractors, and vendors for a timely submission in accordance with project requirements and Palladium procedures
  • Manages operational activities (including start-up, close-down, and maintenance of a live project) associated with the various aspects of the life cycle of a project
  • Contributes technical input to the design, planning and the delivery of projects.
  • Leads elements of technical work in collaboration with the Senior Manager and Project Director. Ensures quality and completion
  • Identifies, builds and maintains relationships with partners and consultants that provide technical expertise to projects
  • In collaboration with Project Director(s) and technical leads, provides regular communication to all stakeholders
  • Works with others across Palladium to provide and build technical capability
  • Contributes to research, analysis and publication of technical reports, case studies, policy and program approaches, and results summaries on topics related to expand existing lines of business
  • Develops reports, budgets, workplans, proposals and other outputs for internal and external stakeholders
  • Contributes to the identification, assessment, and pursuit of new business and the analysis of prospects (go or no-go) for winning targeted opportunities
  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • Ability to manage multiple simultaneous tasks and/or complex projects/assignments
  • Experience working on developing country issues and/or contexts
  • Ability to travel and work in developing countries for extended periods of time

Professional Expertise/Competencies Preferred:

  • Experience working within an international organization or business
  • Experience supporting work implementing USAID- or other donor-funded projects
  • Experience working in a developing country or in a project-based environment
  • Experience with conceptualizing and making presentations, both in-person and virtually
  • Experience networking across the development community, including with donors, implementing partners, and developing country organizations and governmental institutions
  • Professional working proficiency in another language, with priority given to Spanish, French, Portuguese, and Arabic
