Geotechnical Engineer, Senior Level

Duties and Responsibilities

The following are required, but not limited to, for the position:

• Lead, supervise, and manage junior engineering and support staff in day-to-day department operations.
• Conduct and manage geotechnical engineering projects including report preparation and review.
• Perform geotechnical studies, analysis, and design.
• Develop and follow project budgets and schedules.
• Be proficiency in reading and developing construction plans and specifications.
• Lead the preparation of client proposals and cost estimates.
• Contribute to strategic planning and continuous improvement efforts.
• Lead interactions and meetings with clients and project stakeholders.
• Conduct marketing and business development, including attending short-list interviews as geotechnical expert, reviewing and evaluating RFPs/RFQs to help develop proposals and statement of qualifications.

Skills and Qualifications

• Candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in civil or geotechnical engineering with professional engineer licensure. Candidates with master's degree and/or MBA will be prioritized in selection.
• PE license in Alabama, Mississippi and Florida or ability to obtain state licensure within six months of employment is required.
• Fifteen (15) years or more of geotechnical engineering and construction materials testing experience required.
• Candidates with strong communication skills (written and oral), demonstrated managerial and project management experience, and ability to develop positive client relationships are preferred.
• Physical activities including walking through uneven difficult terrain, long spans of standing and ability to lift 25 lbs.
• Up to 25% overnight travel should be anticipated.
