Job Description
We are looking for a Senior Accountant to join our small office team in the South Reno Area! This is a hybrid position whereas both accounting and tax return preparation experience is required. You will be responsible for preparing and analyzing financial and tax returns for our company and clients with an expected start date on or before January 2023.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare, gather, and examine accounting documents, record entries, and prepare financial statements for client ventures and investment partnerships.
- Assist with preparation of annual tax returns to include 706, 1040, 1041, 1065, and 1120 forms for federal and multiple state tax authorities.
- Analyze complicated investment K-1's from underlying partnerships to include foreign activity.
- Tax planning and calculation of quarterly estimated tax payments for clients.
- Identify potential tax issues, perform tax research as needed and provide timely advice. Review and respond to tax authority notices and inquires.
- Assist with investment tracking, preparation of payments for capital transactions and reconcile investment activity.
- Interact with clients and third-party providers to meet ongoing day-to-day needs.
- Maintain paperless storage and client records.
- Assist with mentoring and training as needed for other staff members.
- Special projects as needed.
Qualifications:
- Family office experience with the ability to work in a small office environment is a plus but not required.
- Must possess a minimum of a bachelor's degree in either Accounting or Taxation with a skill set to support our business needs. Enrolled Agent or CPA License is a plus.
- Possess a minimum of 5 years proven progressive accounting AND tax preparation experience.
- Knowledge of current tax laws to assist in identifying new filing requirements and/or changes for clients.
- Fundamental knowledge of GAAP with tiered partnership and intercompany transaction experience a plus.
- Experience with Quick books, Sage, Pro-Systems CCH Axcess, and CFS Tax software.
- Ability to multi-task daily, work independently, with a high attention to detail, be deadline driven with an ability to thrive in a fast paced and dynamic environment during tax season, and possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Adhere to the highest level of confidentiality. An executed NDA will be required.
