Job Title: Staff Accountant

Location: La Crosse, WI

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm

Position Overview
The Staff Accountant assists in performing audits for nonprofits and local governments. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in accounting. Prior experience in public accounting is preferred but is not required.

Responsibilities

• Preparing individual, corporate, and non-profit tax returns
• Conducting tax research
• Assisting with audits
• Establishing and maintaining effective client relationships through regular communications, including on-site visits.
• Expanding knowledge through exposure to peers and clients
• Representing the firm and promote its image at a variety of events including, but not limited to networking events, vendor conferences, client events and at college career fairs

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting
• Prior experience in public accounting preferred
• CPA eligible (150 credits) preferred
• CPA certification is recommended, but not required
• Excellent team skills, positive attitude, and high ethical standards
• Excellent attention to detail, analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment
• Commitment to quality and timely completion of work
• Strong computer skills and proficient in Microsoft Office and various tax and accounting software including CCH products, QuickBooks products, and research tools
