Job Description

Position located in Wixom, MI will be a technical resource for questions regarding specifications, materials, testing and literature associated with seal material selection and design. Position may support the development of training materials including 3-D CAD drawings and PowerPoint presentations to serve as training support for new hires and customers. Must have strong interpersonal as well as a technical skill set. Reports to the Applications Engineering Manager. Has no direct supervisory responsibility. Must effectively interact with field sales, distributors, end customers and internal customers. Works with minimal daily supervision, but keeps team leaders and staff informed of project status.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with inquiries from customers via e-mail, phones, and quotation request system.
  • Assist customers in selecting the best rubber seal material for a given application and the design of their products to maximize service life.
  • Document product application successes and develop internal training materials.
  • Conduct market research.
  • Assist with warranty, product quality, and data analysis.
  • Interpret and understand customer drawings, requirements, and specifications and make recommendations of Parker products.
  • Willingness to learn new skills such as Finite Element Analysis or Failure Analysis.
  • Support field sales as required to maintain a premier customer service position.

Qualifications:

  • At least Sophomore level in BS/BA Engineering or related field.
  • Prefer experience interacting with customers.
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand, describe, or discuss problems of a technical nature.
