Job purpose

The AP Audit Supervisor is responsible for assisting the Director of AP Audit and working with the AP Audit team to ensure the accurate and timely validation and processing of the invoices related to the Company’s core businesses. The Supervisor will review and manage department metrics and promote and facilitate positive internal and external relationships. This position will be integral in the development and execution of processes related to new verticals and business acquisitions. 

Duties and Responsibilities  

  • Supports and assists the AP Audit Specialists with escalated invoice issues and inquiries within their respective property portfolios.  
  • Supervise at least one region of AP Auditors. Provide training, work performance feedback, monitor goal adherence, provide coaching, and hiring and termination decisions.  
  • Manages team vendor/property assignments to ensure equitable distribution of workload.
  • Approve timecards for direct reports. Manages time and attendance and ensures compliance.
  • Works with Director of AP Audit to identify areas that require further training and process improvement. 
  • Review of monthly payments, AP aging, payment holds, open PO report and duplicate POs used.
  • Provides 2nd level approval for Teams’ invoices.
  • Builds sustainable relationships and trust by communicating collaboratively with partners internally and externally.
  • Demonstrates excellent follow-through on assignments and inquiries.
  • Monitors team mood and performance and works to resolve any issues or conflicts.
  • Motivates team members and leads by example.
  • Acts proactively and collaboratively to ensure smooth Team operations.
  • Collaborates with Director of AP Audit on initiatives for the AP Audit Department that drive organizational workflow.
  • Coordinates with internal departments to improve processes.

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field and at least 3 years in an Accounts Payable role with an emphasis on challenging, disputing, and resolving invoice discrepancies. 
  • 1—3 years supervisory experience.
  • Familiarity of the waste industry is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Professional email and phone etiquette with a focus on collaboration and solving problems. 
  • Ability to negotiate and influence others.
  • Ability to drive efficiency and productivity.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to react well under pressure and treat others with respect.
  • Ability to adapt easily to change.
  • Detail oriented and analytical with excellent independent decision-making skills.
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
  • Good time management skills to prioritize and plan work activities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Ability to learn new technology quickly.

Work Conditions/Physical Requirements 

In office environment. Noise level is moderate. Ability to work after normal business hours as needed is required. 

Expected Hours of Work  

This is a full-time job with a typical work schedule of 8AM-5PM Monday-Friday; however, extended hours may be required occasionally.

A team of AP Auditors and Senior AP Auditors report to the AP Audit Supervisor.
