Job Description
Duties:
- Manage large volumes of inbound and outbound calls promptly.
- Have basic knowledge of medical terminology.
- Always identify self and clinic.
- Complete initial registration information of new patients following established policies and procedures.
- Update any changes of patient information in the computer database and scan updated paperwork into Electronic Health Records (EHR) under correct tabs, including documenting phone notes when appropriate.
- Follow communication “scripts” when handling different topics.
- Identify patients’ and other customers’ needs, clarify information, research every issue, and provide solutions and/or alternatives.
- Navigate through patients’ charts in the EHR to locate appropriate information.
- Verify pharmacy information and other clinical information related to a patient’s visit.
- Monitor automatic call reminder system, making sure that cancellations are identified and reconciled with the schedule.
- Manually remind patients of appointments when the automatic call reminder system is unable to do so.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a call center or customer service role is preferred.
- Proficiency in data entry and computer skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English (Spanish language skills are a plus).
- Familiarity with medical terminology and medical office procedures is desirable.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to analyze customer inquiries or issues.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry tasks.
