The base salary range for a Sr. Financial Reporting Analyst is $65,900 to $118,600. Actual salaries will vary by geographic location and are based on factors such as candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, competencies, and company equity. In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan based on company performance and individual performance.

Sr. Financial Reporting Analyst Overview

  • A successful candidate must be a CPA (active or inactive).
  • Responsible for the timely and accurate preparation of internal, statutory and GAAP financial statements
  • Point of contact in communications and coordination with external auditors, actuaries, regulatory and rating organizations regarding financial matters, reports, data requests and analysis

  • Aware of new statutory or GAAP accounting and reporting requirements and subsequent implementation.

  • Develop and maintain internal controls, including MAR documentation, directly or indirectly relating to financial reporting

  • Work with IT, operations, external actuaries, Blue Partners, external vendors and others to continuously improve the accuracy of internal and external financial reporting

Essential Duties:

  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of Statutory and GAAP financial reporting systems and processes. Ensure accurate, timely and relevant preparation of financial information, reporting and related footnotes and disclosures.
  • Assist in the regulatory reporting function including preparation and filing of annual statements, quarterly statements and supplemental filings.
  • Develop and produce various reports to be used to analyze operating results.
  • Develop and produce reporting for the purposes of recording DAC, VOBA, Guaranty Fund Assessments and other items.
  • Collaborate with all functional areas and external service providers or partners to obtain accurate data timely and efficiently for financial reporting requirements.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Adept at developing, synthesizing and presenting complex data
  • Strong working knowledge of general ledger and reporting software
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and decision-making skills

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • 2-3 years of audit related public accounting experience, ideally in the financial services industry
  • Experience with audit report preparation and footnote drafting
  • Or, equivalent military experience

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • 4-6 years accounting experience
  • Experience with multiple basis of accounting
  • Insurance industry experience
  • Project and personnel management experience
