Job Summary and Qualifications

A. Essential Job Duties

  • Triages and greets patients in a polite, friendly, prompt and helpful manner. Obtains vital signs and reports any abnormality to the Practitioner immediately as per the Triage Flow Chart Guidelines.
  • Obtains accurate patient medical information and precisely enters it into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system. Updates returning patient’s information to maintain accuracy for the Physicians, patients, billing department and third party payors.
  • Guides patients to examination rooms and prepares them for the Practitioners.
  • Position patients and perform radiologic imaging procedures in compliance with department and legal requirements.
  • Answers patient, physician offices and pharmacy phone calls as per company procedure with the guidance of the Practitioners or clinical management.
  • Submits automated reports for any type of incident that occurs throughout the day, including but not limited to; 911 or Ambulance Transport, Against Medical Advice, Left without being seen, billing complaints, and complaints about staff, patient care issues, reduction in charges, criminal activity or suspicious behavior.
  • Obtains proper consent forms signatures. Patient consent forms are legal documents and it is our policy that no patient is to be treated for ANY procedure where a consent may be required, if they have not signed, refuse to sign or have altered the consent forms in any way.
  • Ensures any documents containing patient protected health information and highly sensitive information are locked down or immediately disposed of in the shredding bins.
  • Performs daily call backs to follow up on patients seen the previous day; answering questions and responding to any concerns they may have with the Practitioner’s guidance.
  • Follows opening and closing procedures according to office guidelines. Assures the readiness of the Clinical area for each working day. Including but not limited to; cleaning, stocking and organizing nursing station, patient exam rooms, procedure rooms and patient restrooms.
  • Prepares and keeps rooms stock, neat and clean previous to patient’s examinations. Reports any shortage of supplies or incidents to management.
  • Takes initiative and makes use of facility slow periods by reviewing previous call backs, disinfecting patient exam rooms and nursing station and stocking rooms with appropriate medical supplies.
  • Helps mentor new employees during their training period; answers questions and provides support.
  • Abides by all OSHA and Workplace Safety Guidelines as per the facility’s OSHA safety manual and Medical Assistant Orientation Guide.
  • Cleans and sterilizes instruments and disposes of any contaminated supplies as per OSHA standards.
  • Performs basic laboratory test and sample analysis, including but not limited to; venipunture, starting intravenous access, urinalysis, pregnancy, drug screens, hair collections, mono, influenza, strep, blood glucose, and office cholesterol test.
  • Operates and/or assist with EKG’s, Audiometer, Titmus, Oxygen Administration, AED, Spirometry and any other medical equipment used to administer routine radiologic tests.
  • Assist the Practitioners with patient examinations and procedures: applying pediatric urine bags, urine catheters, cast removals, ear lavages and Morgan lens application/irrigation.
  • Responsible to assist with Medication Administration.
  • Complies with MD Now Care Summation and Discharge Guidelines when discharging all patients.
  • Ensures that Mandatory Discharge Instructions are used at all times.
  • Ensures that all Physical Exam Forms are accurately and entirely completed and reviews for accuracy.

The Licensed X-Ray Technologist/Medical Assistant job will be measured in the following ways:

  • Compliance with essential and incidental duties.
  • Compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Adherence to and application of MD Now Core Values
  • Compliance with state and federal laws and regulations applicable to their role.

Qualifications Required

Education:

  • High school or equivalent is required.
  • Graduated from an accredited Medical Assistant, Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic Program and/or X-Ray based training program.

Experience:

  • One (1) year of experience is desirable.
  • Knowledge of x-ray techniques and proper alignment of patient during procedure.
  • Previous medical assistant, urgent care experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of government regulatory requirements applicable to their role is necessary.
  • Computer Literate. Knowledge of Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system. E-Clinicals knowledge is helpful.

License and/or Certifications:

  • Current Florida BXMO/RT license is required.
  • Medical Assistant Certification or equivalent is a plus.
  • CPR certified is required.
  • BAT and DOT Collector Certification is helpful.
