Job Summary and Qualifications

The Registered Nurse Clinical Support Resource supports high quality, patient-centered care by offering feedback, guidance, and mentoring to new graduate nurses and/or nurses that are transitioning to a new specialty. The Resource Nurse supports multiple units. The Resource Nurse provides guidance and education on the hospital is standard of nursing practice, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with all accrediting and regulatory agency requirements.

What you will do in this role:

  • You will perform rounds on each nursing unit.
  • You will observe and assess the quality of patient care being delivered.
  • You will identify nursing educational needs.
  • You will escalate concerns about nursing skills, patient care, policies, processes, and equipment as appropriate.
  • You will ensure that nurses within scope of support have a clear understanding of how to integrate patient experience into nursing practice.

What qualifications you will need:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required.
  • Master's Degree in Nursing or related field Preferred.
  • 2 plus years of PICU experience as a licensed Registered Nurse.
  • 1 plus years experience in a leadership role Preferred.
  • 1 plus years experience as a preceptor Preferred.
  • Current Registered Nurse License in the State of Texas or Multi-State Compact License (Employees with RN Compact License are required to obtain Texas RN License within 90 days of hire date).
  • American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS).
  • American Red Cross or American Heart Association Advanced Life Support Course (ALS or ACLS).
  • American Red Cross or American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Course within 12 months of employment.
  • Preceptor Training within 90 days of employment.
  • Neonate Resuscitate must be obtained within 12 months of employment.
  • NIH Stroke Scale must be obtained within 30 days of employment.
  • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention must be obtained within 90 days of employment.
  • Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) within 90 days of employment.
  • Business Emergency Response Training (BERT) within 90 days or employment.
