Position Purpose:

The Director of Human Resources (DHR) will be supporting the Northeast Region of the Municipal Water business line. Reporting to the President of the Northeast Region, the DHR will be part of the region's Senior Leadership Team and provide leadership and support in the direction and implementation of HR strategies, services, policies/processes, programs and projects. Managing and developing a team of HRBPs, the HR team's major focus includes workforce planning, staffing, talent management, employee and labor relations, compensation, and change management. As part of a matrix organization, the Director of Human Resources will partner with the HR Center of Excellence Team of Veolia North America, which includes: Talent Acquisition Team, Talent Development, Total Rewards, People Operations, Diversity & Inclusion, Group Function HR.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for directing, coordinating, and/or conducting activities in the following areas:

  • Performance management
  • Organization development
  • Employment and compliance to regulatory concerns
  • Employee orientation, development, and training
  • Employee relations
  • Compensation and benefits administration, including Salary Review
  • Succession planning
  • Employee safety and health in coordination with the H&S team
  • Originates and leads Human Resources practices and objectives that will provide an
  • employee-oriented, high performance culture that emphasizes empowerment, quality,
  • productivity and standards, goal attainment, and the recruitment and ongoing development
  • of a superior workforce.
  • Coordinates implementation of services, policies, and programs through Human Resources staff, reports functionally (dotted line) to the SVP, CHRO Municipal Water , serves on the executive management team, and assists and advises company managers about Human Resources issues.
  • Primary objectives include the development of the workforce and activities of the HR Department.
  • Building a culture of responsibility, solidarity, respect, innovation and customer focus.
  • Manage, develop, lead a team of HR professionals to support the region.
Qualifications

Education/Experience/Background:

  • Bachelor's degree in HR or related field. MBA or appropriate master's degree preferred.
  • 10+ years experience in increasing roles in HR and HR management.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Exceptional leadership skills that have been demonstrated by achieving desired results through others, and building effective partnerships through influence and relationship building skills.
  • Proven ability to balance strategic and tactical skills. Demonstrated problem analysis and resolution. Understands how to interpret HR data analyses and translate to business insights that business leaders can leverage.
  • Understands and can calculate and communicate both the financial implications and the long-term impacts of HR's decisions on the business.
  • Demonstrate Strategic decision making, shaping people strategy and ensures it is aligned with that of the organization.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, verbal and presentation communication skills.
  • Disambiguates complex problems and identifies the root causes through effective stakeholder communication.
  • Comprehensive HR business process knowledge, including applicant tracking systems, talent management, change management, benefits, payroll, time and attendance, performance management, compensation, employee and manager self-service experience.
  • Effective project management experience.
  • Successful experience consulting with managers; able to effectively build relationships by establishing trust, credibility and adding value quickly

Required Certification/Licenses/Training:

  • PHR or SPHR preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • This position will require travel to visit the region's site in support of their HRBPs.
