Position Overview:

Qualified candidates will be responsible for ensuring our clients’ vessels arrive and depart at their given port destinations in accordance with our clients' interest and in conjunction with the regulations / standards set forth by governmental agencies. Potential employee will coordinate with vessel, vessel’s owners / operator, shippers, terminal and government officials in berthing arrangements for each vessel.

In addition, candidates will contact and oversee pilotage and towage services in order to bring vessels to their prospective berths.

Also boarding agents may be tasked with arranging owner’s requirements when necessary and maintain a port log and other port documents and records as required. Candidates will be required to maintain ongoing communications with Principal, as well as appropriate terminal personnel, shippers, receivers, vendors and government agencies.

You must possess good interpersonal as well oral and written communications skill. This position requires night and weekend work as well as the ability to work overtime. Some local travel is required by the position as well as the ability to board vessels. Personal transportation to our office is required. Transportation from office to terminals will be available.

In order to perform the duties of a Maritime Vessel Boarding Agent, it is a requirement of employment that you will be able obtain and maintain a valid Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC), pass a background check and have a valid driver’s license.

Qualified candidates will be required to work a flexible full-time schedule to include days, evenings, weekends and holidays. Unless otherwise advise working hours are Monday – Friday from 0800 thru 1700.

Qualifications

  • Education: At minimum a High School Diploma is required, preferably some secondary education.
  • Previous experience as a Vessel Boarding Agent.is preferred, but not required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong intrapersonal skills with the ability to work as part of a team or independently when required.
  • Excellent communication skill (verbal and written).
  • Motivated and willing to learn; eager to participate in training.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Card)

Working Conditions:

  • Job involves frequent and extensive walking, lifting, climbing, stooping, bending, and jumping.
  • Frequent walking and standing
  • Frequent climbing (gangway) up to heights of six feet or more
  • Occasional exposure to outside weather conditions
  • Comfortable with working long, irregular hours and able to adapt to fluid ship port schedules engaged in 24/7/365 port operations. Extended Hours. Some nights and weekends.
  • Frequent and proper lifting of up to 50 pounds.
