Healthcare Data Entry Specialist

We are seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Healthcare Data Entry Specialist.

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate and up-to-date healthcare records, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.

Details:

• 8 week contract role- possibly can go longer
• Start Date: February 5th
• Pay: $20-$22 hourly depending on the shift and schedule
• 3 separate shifts
  • Monday-Friday 8am-5pm
  • Monday-Friday 1pm-10pm
  • 3rd shift- we need someone to work Saturday and Sunday; possible schedule would be Wednesday-Sunday.
• Weekend availability is preferred to assist in rotation.
• Training: Monday-Friday 9am-5pm (CST); 1 week of training
• May have to make calls, 1-2 at most to gather information.
• Main responsibilities- Enter faxes and emails into our new UM system Affinitē.

Responsibilities:

• Accurately input patient information, medical codes, and other healthcare-related data into the organization's electronic health record (EHR) system.
• Ensure timely and error-free data entry to support the integrity of healthcare records.
• Assist in assigning appropriate medical codes (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS) to diagnoses, procedures, and services according to established coding guidelines.
• Conduct regular quality checks to identify and correct discrepancies in entered data.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to resolve data-related issues promptly.
• Uphold strict confidentiality and security protocols in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
• Stay informed about changes in healthcare data entry regulations and ensure compliance.
• Update and maintain electronic health records, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
• Assist in archiving and retrieving records as per organizational policies.
• Communicate effectively with healthcare professionals, administrative staff, and other team members to obtain missing information or clarification on data entries.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in healthcare administration, medical coding, or related field is a plus.
• Proven experience in data entry, preferably in a healthcare setting.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and proficiency in ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding.
• Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
• Proficient in basic computer skills and data entry software.
