We are seeking a Project Manager for our federal team based at the Pentagon (military experience not required) to manage a large mechanical HVAC upgrade project. Our dedicated team has been supporting the Pentagon for close to 20 years with their energy efficiency and sustainability needs.

Location: Pentagon, all work is based at this location

Salary range: $105,000 - $120,000
Bonus eligible: Yes

3 weeks of paid vacation per calendar year, 1 week sick days, 3 floating holidays, 10 standard holidays (6.5 weeks of paid time off in total)

As a Project Manager, you will:

 

  • Serve as a primary on-site leader for execution on assigned projects, primarily related to a large mechanical HVAC upgrade with related control systems.
  • Manage the selection, scope of work, procurement, quality and payment of project materials, vendors and subcontractors.
  • Negotiates, prepares and issues subcontracts.
  • Develops project schedules and execute according to plan.
  • Ensures that assigned projects are done accurately, on-time, billed within budget and within scope of the contract.
  • Ensures work performed is in compliance with state, local and Federal legal requirements and operates on the job with the highest of ethics.
  • Adheres to and ensures project personnel and subcontractors adhere to all safety standards, internal policies, and US Army Corps of Engineers requirements regarding health and safety.
  • Understand project and contract scopes; actively pursue growth opportunities that will help the customer achieve desired outcomes.
  • Help prepare and approve cost estimates, contract terms & conditions, and technical responses to client requests for information, bids, and proposals.
  • Ensure mechanics, technicians and subcontractors complete assigned work per established standards, and thoroughly communicate the services performed and completion criteria to customers.
  • Complete timely and accurate project billing to maintain profitability goals and positive cash flow.
  • Analyze financial reporting and project schedule to proactively address potential problems. Effectively communicates project progress, issues and financial status to leadership as required.
  • Provide periodic project status updates, and monthly revenue, cost, and gross margin forecasts.
  • Manage risk, establish project recovery plans, and resolve disputes to minimize escalation.
  • Ensure project document controls and deliverables comply with contract requirements and Johnson Controls standards.
  • Manages the selection, ordering, and delivery schedule of materials to be procured for the projects assigned.
  • Coordinates customer-training requirements.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Project management or project engineering experience in the Building Construction or HVAC Industry.
  • Experience managing project financials (P&L management experience).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. Must have the ability to communicate technical material to a non-technical audience.
  • Proficient in Project Management software and financial accounting systems. Proficiency with Microsoft Project preferred.
  • Strong personal computer working capabilities in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and basic Windows environment.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required government security clearances as needed. (This involves a background/character, criminal history, employment, and credit check.)

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Management experience with projects related to commercial or industrial size HVAC mechanical equipment (chillers, boilers, Air Handlers, VAV’s, etc.) and/or Utility Systems.
  • Experience working with projects including large HVAC mechanical equipment (chillers, boilers, etc.).
  • Experience reading and interpreting government contracts and government procurement standards.
  • Experience managing multiple trades and subcontractors.

 

Preferred Education

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management or related field, or equivalent work-related experience.
