Insurance Marketing Representative

Job Summary

To underwrite, quote and place new and remarketed commercial lines business with awareness of carrier classes of business, premium volume requirement and agency commitments. Provides prompt, professional, courteous and efficient service and quality standards adopted by the agency.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties

· Participates in the discussion and/or review of the current market situation of specific accounts with the Account Manager or CSR. May be occasions to discuss with the producer.

· Maintains knowledge of the current marketplace and capabilities for providing risk placement alternatives; specialty divisions and/or excess lines.

· Provides detailed direction for assembling pertinent information necessary for complete submissions.

· Performs underwriting function whenever necessary to make sure classification and rating are complete and accurate.

· Quote in the carriers’ systems to determine eligibility and pricing of risks.

· Compile information to complete underwriting/rating of the risk.

· Maintains positive relationships with appropriate company representatives through proper contacts and effective communication.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Needs to be a team player who is a self-starter with excellent verbal and written communication skills. The ability to multi-task with excellent organizations skills and be detail oriented. Should have knowledge of the carriers underwriting guidelines and documents required to bind an account. Ability to complete complex tasks. Proficient at all rating programs. The Ability to use a computer, calculator, agency automation system and carrier rating systems, including but not limited to Microsoft Word and Excel. Should work independent with minimal supervision.

Insurance and Education

· High School Diploma or equivalent

· Must have and maintain a New York Property and Casualty License

· At least 3 years of commercial lines insurance experience
