APPOINTMENT TYPE: Full-Time Regular

LOCATION: Oak Ridge, TN or Remote (US Based Locations)

SALARY RANGE: $73,257.60 - $99,944.00

PURPOSE:

To meet the support needs of the Information Technology Services (ITS) customers in their use of the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Oracle system or other corporate business applications. To work with other ITS sections to develop and maintain effective service tools and environments as needed. Duties include resolving user problems, working with Oracle Support to maintain programs, maintenance of technical documentation, support in version upgrades, implementation of new Oracle modules or functionality, working with business process teams for process improvement initiatives, and to work closely with the other Corporate Business Applications (CBA) technical support analysts in ITS.

Responsibilities
    Support Oracle modules or other corporate business applications and the customers who use them.
  • Initially focus on assigned Oracle module and then expand into support of other modules/applications as either primary or backup support. Duties included in this task include:
    • Maintaining extensive knowledge of assigned modules.
    • Understanding the integration implications of assigned modules with full system.
    • Troubleshooting and resolving technical problems with the Oracle software.
  • Requires understanding of Procedural Language (PL)/Structured Query Language (SQL) code development. Also includes:
    • Maintaining awareness of business processes and needs of users.
    • Providing advice to users on methods for improving the use of existing modules.
    • Responding to user requests routed from ITS Support Center, initiation and follow-up of Service Requests (SRs) via My Oracle Support.
    • Attending all section technical meetings and required customer meetings.
  • Support the Oracle application modules and other corporate business applications in a primary, secondary, or tertiary backup role.
  • Assist with implementation of new Oracle modules, associated 3rd-party add-on software, and dormant functionality within an existing module. This involves working with end users to map business practices, identify gaps, propose and implement solutions, and document and place solutions into production.
  • Maintain effective and secure tools and environments, and provide input to continuous improvement in this area. This duty requires developing broad understanding of the current ORAU IT Technologies and procedures, and following established procedures (updating logs, following change management procedures, etc.).
  • Promote new ideas that lead to continuous improvement in our approaches and tools.
  • Participate in ITS All-Staff meetings.
  • Remain up-to-date in current technology and related support tools, primarily Oracle applications, PL-SQL, Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition (OBIEE), and relevant PC desktop technologies such as Microsoft Office.
  • Responsible for compliance and participation in general administration such as:
    • Property assigned to incumbent, security issues (both individually and in support groups).
    • Administrative tasks.

  • Administrative tasks include timekeeping, accounting activities related to incumbent's purchases and travel, and completion of required training.
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in computer sciences, business administration, or a related scientific/engineering field and 2-4 years direct experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience performing duties as described may be substituted for the minimum requirements.

Technology experience needed includes:

  • Oracle or other large relational database management system and their applications.
  • Must understand Oracle database and applications underlying structure and processes to answer questions in the application area, troubleshoot, and meet customer needs.
  • Must understand Oracle Support facilities and be able to apply the necessary technologies to support incremental upgrades and problem resolution (i.e., obtain software patches and develop test environments, coordinate testing by end users and technical staff, and communicate to database administrator (DBA) and other support professionals).
  • Windows Operating Systems.
  • Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Oracle applications or other large commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) application support experience.
  • Reporting tools such as OBIEE
  • Experience with development tools such as SQL and PL/SQL.

*The candidate's starting salary will be determined upon hire and ORAU will use salary survey data, internal comparators, and the candidate's qualifications to determine salary.
